(15,805 posts)She said nothing new that hasn't been aired before.
I sure do bet that Amazon Prime and Showtime got a bunch of new signups though, so it was a win-win for them at least.

(9,701 posts)This does nothing for either her or Avenatti's credibility. It weakens it seriously.

(1,148 posts)Big bunch of nothing. Avenatti said he was going to take it to the media...where is it??

(4,919 posts)Did I miss something? Because I watched the episode, and the interview was less than a minute while Swetnick and Avenatti were trying to catch a flight in an airport... I didn't hear or see anything we don't already know other than on camera face time for Swetnick. She seemed sincere and credible.
That said, I liked the episode and it was great to see Alex Wagner again.

(54,770 posts)I saw better summaries on MSNBC Friday night. That is all this was, with a little screen time for Avenatti to tell us how great he is.
Ms. Swetnick answered 3 questions from earlier in week. Said pretty much what she stated in her statement. Nothing new.
Avenatti is playing this (go ahead and bash me). I was disappointed and think its probably best if FBI does not interview her, because they might conclude it is questionable whether she has anything to add, which will taint Ms. Ford's and Rameriz's story. Possibly Avenatti told her to say nothing of substance, but why even agree to appear in that case.
Plus, the producers of the show and advertising must be the same group that worked with Geraldo on Capones vault.

(9,701 posts)been more than once where someone was scheduled for 60 Minutes and at the last minute was cancelled because it was too politically volatile. I personally know someone this happened to who was high up in politics. Then there was the movie called The Insider, about Jeffrey Wygant who was a whistleblower on the tobacco industry - true story- who was dropped from 60 Minutes at the last minute. RAchel had Avenatti o talking about this and I can't imagine she would not have vetted it carefully first, even tho she said NBC had not yet vetted it.

(30,160 posts)Premium channels are different. They ran with an airport interview, for whatever reason. Let's watch the news and see what happens.

(30,160 posts)directions at once. What may have looked smart on one day looks stupid the next. I am so sick of this shit show. I suspect the Statute of Limitation ran on everything that happened in Maryland when Kav was in high school. I can't get a clear answer to that from anyone. No one has directly said there was no Statute of Limitation on rape in Maryland in the early '80s. There was one on attempted rape then and it was only a year.
Amaryllis
(9,701 posts)and I think heard it said on MSNBC but not sure; too much too fast like you said.

(30,160 posts)I find it hard to believe that there was none in the '80s. If there was and has run the public is being played. MSNBC's legal analyst is one of the people who has said "no Statute of Limitation." This is remarkable legal laziness. There is a difference between "is" and "was." The U.S. Constitution prohibits ex post facto laws.
