Trump administration proposes to bolster rights of accused in campus sexual misconduct cases

Redefining campus sexual harassment

The proposed changes, which were leaked to the New York Times in August, are still in draft form and haven't even been formally published yet. They would narrow the definition of sexual harassment and limit the types of cases colleges are required to be held accountable for.

Brown said DeVos feels the previous rules enacted by the Obama administration "unfairly tipped the scales against accused students."

As a result, the new policies seem aimed at addressing false accusations and ensuring due process.

But some worry DeVos' proposed policy changes could result in a system where colleges are held less accountable for taking sexual assault seriously, Brown said.

'Severe and pervasive'

Under existing rules, the definition used by colleges was straightforward: "any unwelcome conduct of a sexual nature."

But according to the New York Times, the proposed new definition would be narrowed to include only unwanted sexual conduct "so severe, pervasive and objectively offensive that it denies a person access to the school's education program or activity."

Across the board fucking things up?

It’s like they’re hellbent on deliberately fucking up whatever they can reach with their grubby little paws. Doesn’t even matter what it might be. Just - if it’s there, then it’s something to be fucked with. Or better yet, broken, burned to the ground, destroyed and obliterated.

They intend to have equal protection under the law -- zero. Unless, of course, you can afford your own cops (security force), congress critters, judges, tutors, and doctors on retainer.

This is "punishment" for being "nasty women" who dared to challenge Trump's desires. This makes me more afraid than anything so far because it is such an obvious fuck you to women who dared speak up. They want to create Gilead. I am so livid right now I want to scream.

ETA: After actually reading the article, I see that I am wrong in assuming this was backlash for being "mouthy women" about Kavanaugh, since this has been in the works since mid-August. I should know better than to post before I read the article linked, but damn... The rest stands, though. Their aim is to create Gilead.

registration to get handguns and training to be able to aim quick and shoot their assaulters dead.

Terrify the rapers so that they know that their next assault on a woman will be their last assault.

you'll be deemed not to have been denied "access to the school's education program."

Abysmal, like everything else this maladministration does.

are best addressed in first semester freshman courses on rules for living including sex education, human social behaviors, personal awareness, ethics, civility, personal finance and credit cards. Put everyone on the same page.

Do the accused have rights? Absolutely. Are there false accusations? Hell hath no wrath as the woman scorned. Breakups are painful, bitter, angry, vengeful moments for some. Is this new policy a step forward? No, it takes mankind back 5,000 years. "Objectively" almost begs for physical restriction as THE criteria for determination. So if you're assaulted and still able to walk around, you're good to go, even if you are fearful, mistrusting, abused. DeVos is just garbage. I don't understand the end game of legitimizing all but the most obvious sexual assaults. Ok, grab 'em, Trump seems to really believe that. What future are we headed toward? Female as prey for rich assholes?
