Flew into Barbados two nights ago

At the airport in Barbados, waiting for our luggage, which took forever. This guy starts talking to me. He is from Missouri. I tell him I am from Washington, D.C. So he goes off on how they love everything that Trump is doing. They love him, he can do no wrong. I am standing here trying to remain polite. All I managed to get out of me was that there was still going to be a huge price to pay for what he is doing. But I walked away from this conversation, on Barbados, again seriously concerned about the overall IQ of American voters. He guy was not brash, he did not come across like a rapid ideologue, he was just a John Doe.

I am reading a fascinating book right now, in German (unfortunately, otherwise I could share it). It deals with the collapse of the Weimar Republic in Berlin. It is more about the social fiber and criminal underground that was a prevalent feature of Berlin's society. One element of the history is the extreme polarization between the Communists and the Socialists. It is this polarization that the National Socialists played into, and people where just sick and tired of the chaos.

What I got out of John Doe from Missouri is that fly-over country is sick and tired of being fly-over country. I don't know how to fix that...

I do think that the national news, all centered between NYC and Washington DC seems to originate and terminate there. The rest of the country doesn't seem to exist. This could be because all of the news stations and so forth all originated in these areas.

I am not a rump fan, never was, never will be, and personally, I think he's a joke that I suspect those in NYC are embarrassed about.

...the heavily populated coastal states. The problem is, politicians and religious figures have intentionally magnified those cultural differences, driven wedges, and fomented outright hatred. Know of a city that has a Gay Pride parade? Wouldn't it be nice if someone in a rural area said to themselves, "Wow, that sounds unusual. Would be interesting to see one of those some day." Instead we get "Bunch of perverts and molesters! God will send them to burn in Hell! If Those People show up here, we'll have to run them out of town!" (Ignoring the fact that "those people" are already there and always have been.)

do nothing to improve the economies and education systems. Officials and a lot of citizens in those places think that ostentatious displays of public religion is good policy. Religion is something that should occur in the home and church, temple, synagog, or quietly before a meal(even in a public place), it has no place in public meetings where official business is done, or in public schools.

It's code for they like what he's doing to "illegals" and people of color. I don't think they care about the devastation caused by environment policies, deregulations, changes in student loan programs, and tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations.

Because really, what else has this cabal done that is so public and so obvious to low information voters?
