The Republicans are on a suicide mission when it comes to Kavanaugh.

He is damaged goods and they don't care. If they only allow a half assed investigation and then vote Kavanaugh threw they will face a serious backlash.

What the fuck is wrong with them.

They control SCOTUS with an even more predictable Bias. A cycle or two of election losses is well worth paying.

Plus as Trump has demostrated American electorate has the memory and attention span of a gold fish. They can be endlessly distracted.

But they’re paying a much higher price politically with Kavanaugh. And if he gets in, the same rulings that another winger justice would have sided with will cost them more votes every time, especially anything having to do with women.

Corporatocracy and 1% to do whatever they want whenever they want. I'm almost 69, for me I honestly believe I will never again see the country I grew up in.

8. Unfortunately the American public doesn't care who's sitting on the Supreme Court.

Other than Roe v. Wade, I doubt more than a third of the population could name and describe any significant case which is winding its way to the SCOTUS this year. Gamble v. U.S., which would enable the president to pardon persons convicted of state crimes, comes to mind. Right now the president is restricted to Federal courts -- Gamble could change this, even though it would overturn more than 200 years of "settled law." So much for Kavanaugh's bullshit.

What people care about is their paychecks, whether they can afford that new fishing boat or RV, and who's going to win the playoffs.

If they are afraid people of color are going to take over "their" country, they'll vote Republican, otherwise they tend to vote Democratic. The problems are GOTV (fear is a powerful motivator) and voter suppression methods like gerrymandering, voter ID, reducing polling places and voting machines in predominantly Democratic areas, and putting out false information, like it's okay to submit an absentee ballot the day after election day.

By the time the midterms roll around the GOP will successfully have faded Kavanaugh into the background noise of 24 hour a day cable news coverage.

Here's what's difficult, seating Kavanaugh is bad for America, it's terrible for our courts to have a low character partisan hack on the SCOTUS. They could easily find another Right Wing wacko that wouldn't have a bunch of rape accusations in their background.

But seating him and then having more accusations come out would be great for the Democratic Party in November and might even lead to Kavanaugh's impeachment.

They could dig up Hitlers bones and put them on the supreme court and not lose a vote. This is what their people want.

If we couldn't get our voters out or couldn't get them to waste their vote on someone who couldn't win, they have nothing to fear at all. Their people understand the power of the judiciary and our obviously don't or don't care.

through the Trump disaster and the Kavanaugh outrage otherwise we would have seen much more criticism of each by the GOP. They've worked a plan since 2015 and are sticking to it, gaining them the WH and two SCOTUS picks and a lot more. I think they have this choreographed, with enough threats or carrots in place for gop congresspersons to stay in line through bad press, soul searching, immoral legislation.

They have the next month choreographed too...with all kinds of actions (fake trade deals, writing blank checks to buoy the economy, maybe an international skirmish, fake investigations of dems, more purging of voter names, no progress on checking foreign attacks on voting, etc) geared toward keeping the senate.

This is a world-wide plan and process. Kavanaugh is key to their plans to keep Trump in office through 2020 so he can protect criminal gop bad actors, protect himself, spread riches on himself and co-conspirators, and continue concentration of wealth and power worldwide. Of course they have a plan...not going to leave trillions and trillions of dollars up to silly mid term elections.

for this path of concentration of wealth and power with the help of oligarchs worldwide.

It is either the end or the beginning. I hope an overwhelming voting statement is enough...not sure it is. Finding the will to hit the streets, start boycotts, get in elevators with senators may have to be a part.

To slightly rewrite an old story, a dog is about to swim across a river, when a scorpion approaches him and asks the dog to bring him to the other side on his back.

The dog refuses, saying, "but you might sting me, and then I'd drown."

The scorpion replies, "but if I did that, then I'd drown, too."

The dog sees the logic to this, and agrees. He lets the scorpion climb on his back, and starts swimming across the river.

Halfway across, the scorpion stings him.

"Why did you do that?" screams the dog. "Now we'll both drown!"

The scorpion shrugs and says, "I'm a Republican."
