The state of Trump's Republican Party

Trump was speaking at a rally in West Virginia and told the crowd that him and Kim Jung Un fell in love with each other:

"I was really tough and so was he, and we went back and forth," Trump told an adoring crowd of thousands at Wesbanco Arena in Wheeling. "And then we fell in love, OK? No, really, he wrote me beautiful letters, and they’re great letters. We fell in love.”

And they cheered!!

Let that sink in.

Republican. Rally. West Virginia.

These are not normal times. The sycophant boot licking and worship of trump’s core followers has reached levels of dictatorship idol worship. These people will follow him and believe anything he says and do anything he says.

Even if trump is no longer in office, even if impeached, even if jailed, this problem is never going away.

This is the America we live in today and tomorrow.

We have a long way to go before it becomes the America we all want to live in.

The crowd looked kinda bored to me. I think his schtik is starting to get stale. Meadowoak Oct 2018 #4
The crowd was probably not entirely composed of West Virginians. Tobin S. Oct 2018 #5

Wheeling sits on a narrow sliver of land between Pennsylvania and Ohio. It's 14 miles across West Virginia right there. You can probably bet that there were a fair number of Ohioans and Pennsylvanians there as well. Wheeling also sits in an area of the country where there is a lot of fossil fuel extraction going on right now. I drive through that area of the country almost every day and see the oil and gas field trucks frequently on the highway. Halliburton is a big employer there.
