Flake says he's talking to Senate colleagues and the WH counsel re: FBI investigation

Jennifer Epstein ✔ jeneps (Bloomberg News)

Flake says he's been talking to Senate colleagues and the White House counsel's office to make sure "any current, credible allegation is fully investigated." Adds he'll continue to be "having dialogue" with the WH in the next few days.

"having dialogue?" That means one of two things. One is good, the other is very bad DFW Oct 2018 #4

and *how* do you decide if an allegation is credible without investigating it?

in fact, that's the main *point* of the investigation, really.

Currently in front of the Judicial committee (the attempted rape), or current in the press (lying/perjury about drinking)? So many ways to wiggle out of this.

Good: Look, this guy is poison. You know it, I know it, and a couple of Republicans are voting no with me. Kavanauguh crosses the line. Pull him, and save the Republican Party. Save the anger for after the election, or we lose worse than we are looking to lose now.

Bad: Look, I'm retiring at the end of the year anyway. But I'm young enough to not go away. Offer me something juicy, and I'll get your creep confirmed. Offer me peanuts, and he goes down. So whatcha got for me?

At the end of the day, Flake is still a Republican, so I consider the second option to still be a very real possibility.
