Texas governor calls Beto O'Rourke 'cult-like' figure

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) on Monday described Rep. Beto O'Rourke (D-Texas) as "cult-like" in the way that he's garnered attention in his bid to unseat Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas).

"He's been a cult-like, very popular figure the way that he's run the campaign, but you don't vote on cult, you don't vote on personality when you get to the U.S. Senate. You vote on the issues," Abbott said on "Fox & Friends.
"
Abbott was critical of O'Rourke's liberal policy views, saying Texas voters won't approve of "George Soros policies," such as higher taxes.

"Texans are hostile to any candidate who's talking about raising their taxes," he said. "Texans are hostile to anybody talking about big government programs run their lives."

to be working. I doubt hardly anyone even knows who he is. They (repugs) are getting desperate to trot out any excuse, any negative, anything to stop the momentum of a democratic bulldozer coming right at them in November 2018.

If Soros did everything those pukes claim he's up to, he would have had to have 10 times the money of Bezos, and still have plenty left over.

They've been beating that drum for 15 years.

Beto's talking about things ordinary Americans want and aren't getting from the Republican party.

It's a fucking tired argument. We see what giving tax breaks to the wealthy and top 10% brings, it results in GIANT DEFICITS, and inability to balance the budget. Which is a joke to begin with.

charisma is essential for a candidate, the more of it a politician has the more they will get stupid talk about a "cult of personality." But they will get it while winning, which is what we need.
