(37,160 posts)It is cause all by itself, and it certainly impacts on the sexual assault allegations, since it is further evidence that he just isn't the fine, upstanding guy his promoters like to paint him as.

(2,275 posts)Every govt. official, every joirnalist, indeed every concerned citizen should point to Kavenaugh's lies about Leahy's emails as a FOUNDATION to the argument that he is capable of lying about sexual abuse and the many other allegations of abusive behavior.

(3,282 posts)I mean, lying about a sexual assault that he may have been too black-out drunk to remember, and then lying about ever getting black-out drunk is bad enough, but we can just talk about how nakedly partisan the words he used LAST WEEK were? How much they disqualify him from what is supposed to be a highly deliberative and impartial position?

(75 posts)He lied under oath about it. Twice in his former confirmation hearing and in his recent confirmation hearing. There's a legal term for that: perjury. And lying to Congress is a felony. I doubt the FBI has ever questioned him on this point.

(1,325 posts)Hang in there Brett. Trump will change the focus in another day or two. Who's talking about kidnapped kids on the border now - Nobody - see how it works?! Ever heard of Yemen? Me neither. Hell, America didn't turn on Bill Cosby until 30 or 40 women came out with their whiny stories about rape. You've gotta long way to go kid, you're gonna be just fine. The seat is all yours.

(1,306 posts)I am hoping that the news dump on Friday night will include this headline:
"Brett Kavanaugh withdraws his nomination for SCOTUS"
something which should have happened last week, but the Repubs are
hell-bent on getting their political-partisan shill on the bench and turn the Supreme
Court into a permanent, right-wing, third chamber of the Congress. Their rallying
cry against "advocate judges" is pure bullshit. Advocate judges are exactly whom
they want stuffed into that court.
This is why they gave Merrick Garland the shaft.
This is why they are trying so hard to shove Kavanaugh down our throats.
This is why they have remained silent on Trump: the "useful idiot".
This is why they tolerated Russian meddling in the election.
This is why they have been suppressing voter rights.
This is why they blocked Obama's court nominees.
