A lady friend experienced rape 30 years ago.

I've known her for 15 of those years.
She's ridden shotgun with me for many hours long road trips sharing our views of the outside and inside worlds.
Several years ago she confided in me her hidden away experience when in high school.
This past week, over a covfefe, she has described the 'bubbling up' of those repressed memories into the 'now'.
These 'coming up from the depths' memories are spoken of by many here at DU.
A Pink Wave.

Through trusted classmates that she's kept in contact with, she found his current 'self'.
We've spoken about her thoughts about what to do with the knowledge.
Him - married with children, small mid-west town, wife a council member, semi-prominent members of their community.

Her dilemma - revenge? Or redemption? Forgiveness? A private Burning Man event to send it all up in smoke?

I don't know how to respond as a 78 year old male.
Anger wants to come forth in me.

I did float out, "how about an anonymous e-mail box? Send him an email query describing your life since then, asking what he feels, given the past weeks televised events. No accusations. Sign it with the name you used in high school so he'd know"

Perhaps this past week is causing those '30 years ago' offenders to have those events 'bubbling up' in them also.
Feeling the shame surging up in them, and not know what to do about their shame.

A nation wide cosmic awareness event.

End patriarchy!
