Millions of women have been assaulted. These women have friends and relatives who have sensitivity for them and with them. So Trump has mocked a significant majority of them. Maybe most of them. Those women and friends will not forget this, and come November the significance will be clear.
....Trump could apologize, but he never apologizes for anything. As usual, he will double down, and do it again. He will be told not to, but he thinks he knows it all so, he will double down and mock her again. He has stepped over a line that only a truly stupid person would step. He is done, and so are those that support him.
...One more thought. Yes, there is a group that will support Trump no matter what he says. That is true. But as people talk about this, (and people will talk about this) that group in my opinion will get much smaller. Some just won't vote in November. And some will vote against the Republican Party that support Trump. How many? The answer will be seen the day after the November 6 election. But guess what? There is a whole month for people to talk about this asshole comment. Plenty of time for an apology..(I don't think Trump will ever apologize) and for people to decide to vote for the Democratic Party, since the Republican Party will support the asshole....plenty of time to talk about this..

(38,478 posts)gotten much smaller because of what Trump said. Also, that "some" were people who had strong enough allegiance to him to get to an event, park the car, get a seat, and sit through that event. Those people are not going to change their minds. But most people in this country, in my opinion, will see this as stupid and insensitive as it really is. That is what I believe, and come the November election, we will all see if people remember this. Trump is the leader of the Republican Partly. I think people will always remember this one...
..always , like mocking the reporter, or father of a slain soldier. But this one is more inclusive. Far more people know victims of sexual abuse, than reporters or parents of slain soldiers. And, of course, I could be totally wrong on this. In about 4 weeks (on November 7) we will know.

(4,341 posts)But the increase in support seems to be from "Evangelical White Women", correct me if I am wrong.
There was a good discussion on the "religious women" and the "guilt" that comes out automatically where they believe that if something bad happened to them it is because they deserved it, they are more submissive and base most of their decisions on religion.
I was driving and was not able to hear the full discussion because I had people in the car.
I can't find the transcript at NPR.

(75 posts)the reason for her inability to remember all of the details was because something was put into her beer. Bill Cosby is the classic example of how to get by with rape for decades on end: drug the women you rape before raping them. This is not an accusation against Kavanaugh because we don't know the facts. But even if he did not drug her, it is a classic trauma response to vividly remember the traumatic act in question while forgetting much of the rest of the scene. Every psychology reference book tells us this.

(28,139 posts)Misogyny is especially thick among southern, religious women. They bash any vocal woman speaking up for herself - "she doesn't know her place" or "she's getting above her raising" or "who does she think she is." These 18th century attitudes die hard in the South. These women hated Hillary more than Obama.

(22,919 posts)Not all of the people who view the world like Trumpers are reliable voters. Trump is counting on stoking male rage to increase his vote tally by turning the heat on it way up. Probably he is calculating that a mobilization of women voters was already mostly baked into the electoral equation and by doubling down he can shake out more male voters.
Those who believe in fighting all forms of gender injustice up to and including rape, women and men alike, must show up at the polls this November.

(58,724 posts)Though I would note that the women in the crowd that were visible seemed to cheer his remarks. Granted, that is his hard-core base. Hopefully some prominent Republicans (other than the Jeff Flake types) will condemn Trump for those comments, though going from recent history, I very much doubt it.

(31,261 posts)I was really disappointed by all the socalled Christian women that I saw behind Trump cheering their asses off as he assaulted a 15 year old girl a second time. Yes, Dr. Ford recounted the assault, but it happened to a frightened 15 year old girl. How Christian of the MAGATS to cheer evil. They think that they are headed for what they call heaven, well, that is open to a lot of doubt.

(9,090 posts)so in their alternate reality, which the left does not challenge until after the fact, he's not out of line.
dems don't realize that as long as limbaugh gets to lie and attack ford and republican senate dissenters and make excuses for trump on 600 stations, with another 1000 reinforcing him, it doesnt matter what trump says or does.
the left is letting limbaugh do to ford what he did to anita hill and unless we fix that or massive protest, kavanaugh will get on.

(31,261 posts)Trump did as grotesque things before and his MAGATS and other Americans rewarded that by making him President. (11,885 posts)All the people that support and cheer on his attacks of victims who've been sexually attacked . Who does that?Who are these people supporting a sexual predator who victimizes women , and verbally abuses them openly like he does. Don't these people realize he's a monster, along with this kavanaugh drunk and drugged up loser is who can't be honest , or keep himself under control . He's a total mess but trump needs him for protection for putin , himself , and all those in his administration and Congress that have been involved and are working for putin , and not this country now. trump has tried to rig this investigation so they can still pass him , but its backfirig very badly , and it all will come out and expose them all , and kavanaugh will be removed from it if they do vote him in, he lied and is corrupt, and a drunk and probably a drug user too.
