Maybe challenging Trump, maybe Governor, maybe just a juicy lobbying gig? Whatever it is, it involves staying in the good graces of the GOP and their owners.

He is not strong enough to be a leader. All Trump has to say is, "This guy criticizes me, then he votes with me 99% of the time. He's gutless". The base will eat it up and Flake will go down like a stone.

Doesn't matter to me. The Repub party has been lost to me for decades. Twenty/thirty years ago, I could find one once in a while that I could vote for. Not any more. They've gone full on asshole.

I still don't think Trump will be on the ballot in 2020. It will be Pence (if he is not in prison) vs. Kasich.

I figure that Trump is going to crush Kasich and anybody else who thinks they can get the GOP nomination. In fact, I'd bet that Trump would relish having an intraparty contender for the nomination, it would allow him to suck the oxygen out of the room with election coverage of a Quixotic opponent, and steal airtime away from the Democratic race.

But he has zero chance of even being a minor threat. Starting in January, you may never see the name "Jeff Flake" in print again.
