Is Jeff Flake trying to set himself up to challenge Trump for the GOP Presidential nomination in 2020?

(11,736 posts)He is not strong enough to be a leader. All Trump has to say is, "This guy criticizes me, then he votes with me 99% of the time. He's gutless". The base will eat it up and Flake will go down like a stone.

(3,322 posts)I still don't think Trump will be on the ballot in 2020. It will be Pence (if he is not in prison) vs. Kasich.

(25,183 posts)I figure that Trump is going to crush Kasich and anybody else who thinks they can get the GOP nomination. In fact, I'd bet that Trump would relish having an intraparty contender for the nomination, it would allow him to suck the oxygen out of the room with election coverage of a Quixotic opponent, and steal airtime away from the Democratic race.

(25,183 posts)But he has zero chance of even being a minor threat. Starting in January, you may never see the name "Jeff Flake" in print again.
