(6,276 posts)The last time Ford and the other auto makers did a layoff like this we went into a rescission that lasted several years. Just saying.
If you look at it, for everyone who is gone that is 2 cars not sold at the start. The longer they are off the economy will slump and fewer and fewer cars will be sold. That is what happened last time. 10,000 off work 20,000 cars not sold initially. This is considering that each worker family has a minimum of 2 cars as most do.

(34,661 posts)two quarters. Should have been done in May,that was the first sign of things going south,the Tarrif's just compounded their situation. Trump's blathering last spring brought this to a head.
Understand the Management Layers are the first to go,which should have happened two or three years ago. Fortunately the UAW has some built in monetary benefits for the rank and file line workers.
You knew Trump would crash the economy with people like Ross,Mulvaney,Kudlow,and other so called Supply Siders in this Administration.
