Niecy Nash plays the inventor of a service for white people to call instead of 911.

I love her

In this satirical infomercial, the comedian and actress Niecy Nash plays the inventor of a new hotline, 1-844-WYT-FEAR. The video advertises a phone service for white people to call when they can’t cope with black people living their lives near them. The hotline is up and running, so give it a ring and spread the word. (Seriously.)

The phenomenon of white people harassing African-Americans going about their day is nothing new, but with the ubiquity of smartphones and social media, everyone can now see how these injustices are played out and lead to anxiety for and material harm to people of color. And this problem is bigger than a few unreasonable white people. Racist stereotypes are baked into our society.

When I see something like this vid, it reminds me of the brilliant job Will Smith did in Men in Black. Remember when he was on the test course, and he didn't shoot all the intimidating looking creatures? One was exercising, one had a cold and so on. Then the little white girl with a course in quantum physics got it right between the eyes because that book was 'way beyond her, Zed, or do we have a problem?'

Believe it or not, that was the first time I really thought about the whole issue of being worried about black people simply living while being black. I guess it's subtle, but maybe not, because I got the message in no uncertain terms. Look at what people are DOING, not how they look before you act.

I know that probably sounds funny, but it worked for me. I've always felt that art teaches us about what we are repressing, and this is just a minor example of that.

but it's also drama. She runs a nail salon (hence "Claws" ) but gets involved inadvertently with drug dealers and has to work with them to keep her shop and make money etc...She's fantastic in it and there's a great cast around her. Some of it hilarious and there's a goodly amount of violence too. Set in Florida.
