Judge: Michael Avenatti must pay $4.85M in ex-lawyer’s suit

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A California judge on Monday ordered Stormy Daniels’ lawyer Michael Avenatti to pay $4.85 million to an attorney at his former law firm, the first time the potential presidential candidate is being held personally liable in the case.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Dennis Landin issued the ruling after turning down a request from Avenatti to have the matter moved to federal court, which the opposing side called a delay tactic.

Avenatti did not appear at the court hearing and never filed opposing arguments in the case.

The judge said Avenatti must pay the money because he personally guaranteed a settlement with Jason Frank, who had worked at his former firm.

Media hype notwithstanding, I rather think not. I have about as much "potential" to be a presidential candidate as Avenatti does, and I can shoot the bull with Merkel, Putin, Macron and Raúl Castro in their own languages to boot, so there!

Unless he sees some kind of financial advantage to such a move, I just don't see it. We'll know for sure in a year or so.

Why he thinks he's qualified to serve in office is beyond me. It's pure egoism with him. Real leaders are rooted in service, not treasure hunting through lawsuits. He's like a yankee John Edwards

I like Avenatti. He’s a street fighter, even if that street is in Beverly Hills or Newport Beach. As a candidate, no; as an attack-dog, hell yes. He has no constituency to cater to, so he can crank the rhetoric to 11, unlike elected office holders. He does serve an important purpose in very dark times.

He is a hindrance and that was apparent during the Kavanaugh hearing. He should take care of his client instead of going tweet to tweet with DJT.
