MIAMI (CBSMiami) Voting in the Nov. 6 General Election has already reached nearly one million by people who have voted by mail. But today is the first day of in-person early voting and some South Florida voters camped out overnight to be the first in line to cast their ballots.
About a dozen people slept in tents outside of the Shenandoah Library to cast their ballot as soon as the doors opened. Several more early risers showed up to join them. The voters, donning blue Gillum T-shirts wanted to see, what they call, the blue wave at the polls.
Musicians entertained the morning crew, while others brought pastries and coffee.
When asked why they were voting Democrat, many people echoed similar values that were their top priorities, including the environment, healthcare, and immigration.

Listen CBS, it's fucking DEMOCRATIC

(6,377 posts)There are a LOT of places that are just completely devastated, voting centers completely wiped out, and they're not going to be able to get them up and running in the next two weeks. There will still be voting of course, but I wouldn't be surprised to see panhandle voting down 15-20 percent from usual midterm turnout.

(23,102 posts)There are 20 places you can early vote here, at the one I go to we had 429 votes Monday and 433 Tuesday. Multiply that x 20 and the vote seems to be going strong here. I live in a very purple verging on red neighborhood and have been pleased at the number of minorities voting. Men and women are about evenly split with all ages showing up, more young folks after 4:30 and more older folks in the am and early pm. I have also seen a number of people from Puerto Rico showing up to use the language machine and change their address to here. I'm hoping every one of them vote Dem. Since most of the Puerto Ricans that moved here after Irma, moved to So. & Central FL., I'm hoping they're seeing the same thing only x10.
