I can’t get past his assertion awhile back that it wasn’t his job to fact-check interview subjects. As he saw it, “okay YOU, Person A, get to talk. And then YOU, Person B, on the other side, get to talk. And that’s that.” Lazy SOB.

1) not having enough knowledge of facts, to enable them (not only Todd) to see immediately that someone is lying or misleading people; and

2) being intimidated by the right wing (as was Comey) such that they are more concerned with being criticized from the right than they are about being accurate, or being criticized by the left (or by moderates).

He went to some ritzy campaign cocktail reception in Georgetown, I believe, before the 2000 election and kept opening his jacket and flashing the bush/cheney campaign button he had pinned to his jacket lining, every time he ran into some republi-CON there.

I stopped trusting Tim Russert the day I heard that. Whoring for that good ol’ precious “access”, as most of’em did and still do. Can’t lose our ACCESS!!!!!
