Dem pollster says raising taxes on the rich is popular

Democratic pollster Nancy Zdunkewicz said on Monday that raising taxes on the rich is a popular campaign platform if it is messaged to voters properly.

"It's very popular, contrary to the Republican thinking — of raising taxes on the rich," Zdunkewicz, managing editor of Democracy Corps, told Hill.TV's Joe Concha on "What America's Thinking," when asked whether Americans would be OK with higher taxes to pay for proposals such as "Medicare for all."

"President Obama did run on this and letting the Bush tax cuts expire, raising taxes on people who are making over $250,000 a year," she continued.

Zdunkewicz's comments come as more and more Democrats aim to make "Medicare for all," a leading campaign issue.

No Republican politician would ever vote for it. But sadly, enough Democrats would oppose it that I doubt it would pass even if the Democrats got a 60-40 edge in the Senate.

IMO, we should revoke every tax cut passed in the last 20 years, and eliminate the income cap on SS and Medicare. The budget deficit, national debt, and retirement crisis would be gone and the wealthy would have less money to spend buying elections.
