Former WI GOP Candidate Arrested for Attempting to Kill With 'Radioactive Material'

The FBI arrested a man in Town of Madison, Wisconsin, on Wednesday for “trying to buy radioactive material with the intent to kill someone,” local news station WKOW reports.

Jeremy Ryan, 30, allegedly attempted to buy a “lethal dose of a radioactive substance” online between March and October 2018.

The Town of Madison Police Department confirmed to The Daily Beast that the man arrested was the same Jeremy Ryan who lost the August Republican primary while running for Wisconsin’s 1st Congressional District in the House of Representatives. Agents reportedly searched Ryan’s home, and officials said there was no danger to the public.

Ryan’s alleged target was not identified by officials, and he reportedly faces up to a life sentence in prison.

Yep, I can definitely see how "both sides do it".

5. I used to see Jeremy Ryan at the protests against Scott Walker

I don't personally know him but I did see him a lot when the protests were going on against Scott Wanker several years ago. Ryan, in those days, was widely known as Segway Jeremy Ryan because he had physical problems and relied on a Segway to get around. If memory serves me right he even got arrested during the protests in Madison.

I was not aware, and I'm quite surprised, that he ran for a GOP seat. I always thought of him as a Dem or maybe Libertarian. When I have more time I'll try to learn more about this weird turn of events.

6. He is extremely anti GOP

He was one of the leaders of the Wisconsin Protests, and an organizer of at least one Black Lives Matters protests in Madison. I remember when he was somewhat a hero in Wisconsin anti- Act 10, anti-Walker circles.

When he got on the Republican ticket during the primaries the Wisconsin GOP sued to get him off the ballot, but they failed.

It will be interesting to see who the individual he was targeting. But this certainly isn’t the stereotypical Right Wing lunatic, quite the opposite, unfortunately. But is sad how far he’s fallen.

He got signatures. According to the lawsuit he got the signatures by saying it was for pot legalization. If that’s true or not, I don’t know because the GOP lost the lawsuit and he stayed on the ballot.
I do know by looking at his Jeremy Ryan for Congress Facebook page, when he lost the primary, he didn’t endorse Randy Bryce, or the Republican but a third party candidate, so he’s not endorsing the Democrat either.
