Avenatti Is Not Wrong

He is right. And that truth is a shame upon our nation. But I do not think that our next leader needs to pursue the right side of history by acquiescing to those on the wrong side of the present. Kamala 2020.

The next nominee had better be right for the job. Senator Harris just happens to be a hypersmart courageous and beautiful multi-racial person of color. If that is disqualifying our people are not worthy of her leadership. But I have to believe we are. It is how I sleep at night.

The bed I make lies on the RIGHT side of the present.

10. I think he can be interpreted saying, "if Hillary were a man, he would have won by 5 million".

Including the 75 or so thousand needed for those last 3 electoral college states.

Then he's wrong.

It was a self serving statement that cost what small chance he had at being a serious contender.

All levels of power assign more value to white men. What he is wrong about is in thinking that paradigm is invulnerable. But it can only be defeated if it is first rejected. Hillary won more votes but lost. Why? Because of an archaic system designed to insulate white land owners. If Avenatti accepts the problem he becomes part of the problem.

has given us Trump and a judiciary packed with right-wing ideologues. And he was mixed race. I think this is what Avenatti was referring to.

People who deny it are picking and choosing specific people and events. The facts are:

Sure Hilary won more votes, guess who is still prez

A sexual predator sits on SCOTUS because he’s a white male

Obama’s presidency made way for someone like Trump because people are racist

Black men are being shot and white officers aren’t going to prison

Native Americans fought for their land to not have a pipeline run through it and they were shot with rubber bullets

Black men and women can’t protest either silently or non physically but a white male can incite violence and hold a rally in NC

Hilary said it best on Colbert “we will have true equality when a unqualified woman can be president”

No one wants this, and I appreciate so much how many people on DU are outraged by his comments, but ignoring it has gotten us to where we are in this country. Thinking that racism doesn’t exist or that we can let our guard down because we had a black president got us here. Every day is a fight for minorities, join in, listen to them, believe in them when they say that white men still hold privilege and win.

Those were votes I cast with enthusiasm.

I sincerely hope I live long enough to vote for her for President, & I can watch her WIN.

9. White male privilege definitely exists in this country but it was a dumb thing to say.

Avenatti eliminated himself from 2020 consideration by slipping up and stating that. He says he was misquoted and whatever he said was taken out of context.

That's possible but for a guy who has been so adroit with his media savvy this was a just about and irreparable blunder for a Democrat.

He's still useful as a pitbull antidote against the repugs but to make a statement like that with the Democratic Party being the party of diversity...well, he screwed himself if this turns out to be true.

There is a difference between acknowledging that the effects of white male supremacy exist, and endorsing actions that enforce it. It doesn't matter if one feels bad because they're aware of the reality while endorsing them. The effect is the same.

to ask for their electoral votes...thinking it was Her Turn....but Trump did. I was a Bernie fan but voted for her. Then just a few days ago my son told me that he had heard that her health was why she did not finish it off. I feel better now, somehow.
