https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/world/us/president-donald-trump-plans-to-end-birthright-us-citizenship/articleshow/66431475.cms(Not sure about the reliability of the Times of India, but the Boston Globe is reporting the same thing. This was just the first link in my google search.)
Donald Trump intends to sign an order ending birthright citizenship, which is the principle where anyone born in the US, regardless of the citizenship oh the childs parents, is a citizen of the US.
This will of course go to the Supreme Court, where itll have to be overturned. Trump says his advisors say he can do this. Is Gavin McInnes, founder of the Proud Boys, one of his advisors now?

(50,557 posts)This is settled law. United States v Wong Kim Ark is the last Supreme Court case to deal with it, and it upholds the concept.
Now, thinking aloud...I seem to remember news reports that Trump was renting rooms in his hotels to Russian women seeking to deliver babies in the US so those children would be US citizens.

(16,926 posts)of the Constitution can be overturned by a presidential executive order, can it?
DeminPennswoods
(15,286 posts)Executive Orders apply to the executive branch or federal employees or federal agencies only. For ex, an EO can require that all federal contractors pay a higher minimun wage or not discriminate, but that doesn't apply to anything else.

Of course it was delivered by Stephen Millers middle finger, Trumpass himself, right to the heart of The Constitution.

(58,653 posts)apparently with the Parkwood kids out there stirring up opposition the old "coming to get your guns" ploy ain't working like it used to.
This is an extension of the 'Hispanic Horde coming to rape your daughters' strategy.
Shouldn't work.
