Trump plans to repeal the 14th Amendment with an EO

https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/world/us/president-donald-trump-plans-to-end-birthright-us-citizenship/articleshow/66431475.cms

(Not sure about the reliability of the Times of India, but the Boston Globe is reporting the same thing. This was just the first link in my google search.)

Donald Trump intends to sign an order ending birthright citizenship, which is the principle where anyone born in the US, regardless of the citizenship oh the childís parents, is a citizen of the US.

This will of course go to the Supreme Court, where itíll have to be overturned. Trump says his advisors say he can do this. Is Gavin McInnes, founder of the Proud Boys, one of his advisors now?

9. Even with them

This is settled law. United States v Wong Kim Ark is the last Supreme Court case to deal with it, and it upholds the concept.

Now, thinking aloud...I seem to remember news reports that Trump was renting rooms in his hotels to Russian women seeking to deliver babies in the US so those children would be US citizens.

4. McInnes? Maybe.

But McInnes surrogate Stephen Miller is already the "president's brain," so it may not matter.

5. Surely NO part

of the Constitution can be overturned by a presidential executive order, can it?

8. No

Executive Orders apply to the executive branch or federal employees or federal agencies only. For ex, an EO can require that all federal contractors pay a higher minimun wage or not discriminate, but that doesn't apply to anything else.

12. Executive order only directs/modifies how a law is executed by the executive branch.

It can not violate the law nor modify the law.

6. Familiarize yourself with US vs Wong Kim Ark

It is the precedent for interpreting the citizenship clause of the 14th Amendment.

10. Trump will do nothing of the sort...he knows

this is bullshit but he also knows that his base of neanderthals are ignorant enough to believe it...at least for a week.

13. It's just a trick to motivate the MAGA Trumpasses

to turn out to vote.

Of course it was delivered by Stephen Millerís middle finger, Trumpass himself, right to the heart of The Constitution.

14. This...

apparently with the Parkwood kids out there stirring up opposition the old "coming to get your guns" ploy ain't working like it used to.

This is an extension of the 'Hispanic Horde coming to rape your daughters' strategy.

Shouldn't work.

15. It'll work to get some Repukes

to vote who werenít motivated before, but I hope it falls flatter than Stephen Millerís face
