Nov. 4, 2008. I attended the election rally in Chicago.

It was amazing and I will never forget how it felt to be at such an historic event. For 8 years we had an incredible first family who did everything they could to try to help Americans. And at every turn they faced horrible, hostile racists afraid of a black man who was better than them in Every. Single. Way.

Now we have a little dictator who bases his every decision on still trying to bring that black man down for daring to be smarter, more accomplished, more eloquent, vastly more popular the world over, better looking...just better. And all without having to rely on his trust fund and/or cheating to get ahead.

I still can't believe how low we've sunk as a nation in such a short time.

I don't know about you all, but there is no way I can watch the election results on tv Tuesday night, I'm too filled with anxiety. I'll hole myself up in my office and pretend/try to work. Hopefully I'll be able to get results here if the site doesn't get shut down.

If Tuesday doesn't go our way, I'm not sure what I'll do. I'm going to be sick to my stomach for the next few days.

My daughter was there with a girlfriend. They won tickets to be there. I was manning the headquarters in my county that night, so people could come in for election watch. She kept texting me.

In 2012, my husband and I were part of the crowd in McCormick Place when President Obama came in after winning reelection. We had tickets because we had worked hard for him.

It seems like a century ago. I remember how packed in we were, and how nice everyone was to each other. We have lost so much of that feeling of love and unity. It has been replaced with hate and anger.

It was amazing. Beyond words. I happened to win two tickets myself and couldn't believe it. So glad I was there that night.

I couldn't even watch the election results when Obama was elected.

I was curled up in fetal position in New York. My son called me from Kauai and told me he heard Obama Won!

there watching the election results on tv and biting my nails down to the nubs. Getting updates on my phone was so much easier to handle.

We HAVE to elect democratic candidates into office, to save this country. It really is shocking how far we have fallen with the great orange blimp in the WH. He is so low-class, and crude. President Obama showed how a REAL man fills that office. People world wide love him. tRump is a world wide joke. I am ashamed that so many people voted for him, and still support him.

incredibly disheartening to see how many ignorant, racist assholes there are in this country that they could get him close enough to cheat his way to victory.

But I'm fretting regardless because I know how many different ways the GOP is employing to cheat Americans out of a fair election. I know we have the majority, I know we have the votes, it's just a matter of whether we have enough to overwhelm the cheating.

to get a sense of where things are and let others with stronger stomachs "watch".

I literally just helped 2 canvassers from my voting ward who were leaving sample ballots and polling location info at each house in my immediate area. I had to catch them because the polling division they had was incorrect for our particular location (we are on a border between divisions) and they were able to recover those sheets and will hopefully return with new ones. They were almost ballistic being apologetic because they didn't realize where the exact division border was and I told them the houses across the street were in that other division and we would not be voting at that location (Philly literally has 1686 polling divisions across the city).

the district that replaced one of the most egregious gerrymandered districts in the country - the former PA-7 (GOP rep)-

where the new district is now mostly the new PA-5 -

and will be a shoo-in for a Democrat. So I know here in SE PA, we will have some celebrating (2 other redrawn seats surrounding that - the new PA-6 & new PA-7 in SE PA & E PA will also flip with a potential of another if we can get a big GOTV in the new PA-1)!

A friend of mine went to both the rally in Chicago and the Inauguration in DC and said, while the Inauguration was amazing, the rally in Chicago was even better. I wasn't alive in 1945, but from the photos of the VJ Day Celebration it felt like it might have been similar. There was so much hope, so much togetherness, so much relief. It felt like we'd finally turned a page after 8 long years of the Bush cabal.

Little did we know at the time that the racist fuckers in the GOP would be SO spiteful, so conniving, so treasonous and hateful, that instead of working for the people and doing what is best for the country, they'd spend the entire 8 years of Obama's presidency focused solely on bringing him down. And LOOK at what he accomplished despite all that. No (real) scandals, no laws broken, no indictments, the admiration of the world. He got an admittedly imperfect ACA passed, he turned around the economy, MARRIAGE EQUALITY... the list goes on. Can you IMAGINE what could have been accomplished if the GOP wasn't a cesspool of traitorous shit and bile?

I am not a particularly vengeful person. I am as peace-loving as any liberal you'll meet. But if I'm alive when 45, and Pence, and Ryan, and McConnell, and Graham die, I will travel wherever I need to go to dance and spit on their stinking graves.
