I have had it with pundits predicting the election results....I will spend the day watching Hallmark Christmas movies instead.....much more enjoyable.

(7,587 posts)will turn on cable news......probably MSNBC when the first polls close at 6PM EST at 6pm.....can't handle politics until then. I will probably be up most of the night...so hoping for victories for Beto, Stacy, and Andrew.

(13,468 posts)Watching the weather before work. I can't watch the TV speculators. I had election nightmares all night last night.

(6,560 posts)Binged watch Netflix as a "get-a-way". I like your idea of Christmas movies. Think I will do the same. I did read my news feed, and of course DU.

(7,142 posts)I'm a Catholic and every Sunday we pray for the poor the homeless the jobless for refugees for asylum seekers. Our deacon gave the sermon yesterday and I made it a point to tell him that he gave the best sermon he has ever given. I live in a deep red Republican area in Pa., and his sermon was about how our country has lost obeying our 2nd commandment, we no longer love our neighbor as our self. His sermon was along those lines in conjunction with voting. He thanked me and said that his only wish was that he could have reached out to more people.
I don't know if his sermon will flip one Republican vote in our parish, but I give him credit for trying, at least that's what I got out of his sermon, he never mentioned political parties by name.

(4,292 posts)A few days ago, a young woman selling AT&T fiber optic service came to my door. She was amazed that I still have a collection of discs, and stunned when I told her that I have no use for DVR (certainly not at their monthly rates).
This morning, I tried to catch the weather forecast, but the local channels are so full of attack ads and promises to cover the election results accurately and fairly that I switched the TV off before their weather-on-the-5's, -8's or -whatever. Thankful that forecast.weather.gov doesn't carry pop-up ads! Yet.
Now let's see... when we last left Frodo and Sam, Gollum was leading them up a mountain in Mordor.

(19 posts)I too have made the decision to turn off cable news, and I started yesterday with a few slips here and there. It is amazing how the stress is lightened once you shut your ears to the constant poll analyzing. I have a Granddaughter attending FSU so I know just how critical this mid election will be. I've done all I can do, and I only hope that the better angels come out on top Tuesday.

(6,931 posts)zoom through commercials. We have saved up some to watch today and tomorrow. It has been helpful to avoid the relentless political ads.
I cannot watch the speculation and predictions. Oh, yeah, we have "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri" recorded. I can watch that again.
There is of course the possibility that Steve Kornacki will actually explode of live TV.
