I'm going to vote straight Democrat. Those were the words of a local farmer this weekend. I was hosting a delegation of foreign agricultural specialists on a tour of local farms this past weekend. Every time I see these guys they ask me what I think about the president. They've been obsessed with him since before the 2016 election. I won't go into some of the funnier exchanges that mangled English, interpreters and the insanity that is the Trump presidency have produced but suffice it to say that my visitors couldn't help but ask the farmer what he thought about Trump. When they asked the question my first thoughts were "here we go", and "it was such a nice visit up until now", but my alarm was unwarranted. He paused for a second, looked down and shook his head before expanding on his answer. "I couldn't hire any help this year because of ridiculous immigration restrictions, prices for my crops collapsed and his behavior is despicable, does that answer your question?." He told them he had always voted Republican but (to my amazement) he didn't vote for Trump for president and now was going to vote for democrats for Congress and Senate because Trump's policies were killing his business. If Trump has this guy voting for Democrats I am very optimistic about tomorrow's results.

(22,191 posts)his cronies in Congress are just sitting there, letting him do this to our great country. He's a traitor, he's used Russian help (and knows it too) in getting elected. His Congress pals know it too. I don't take kindly to traitors and those who truly don't care about the rest of us. They cared about their donors far more than us.

(2,419 posts)when he said he didn't vote for Trump-almost as much as when he told those guys he was voting straight Democrat. This guy has I think 7 voters in his house with his wife, in-laws and kids. I hope he is indicative of his fellow farmers. He did tell me he called a couple of them up who had voted for Trump and asked them how it was working out for them.

(12,265 posts)My number was posted as someone who would give you a ride to the polls. He called and he apologized for Trump, said he voted for him but he is so sorry for what he has "unleashed on America". I am picking him up at 7 :30 tomorrow morning.

(2,419 posts)Trump's policies are killing them and his personal behavior is abhorrent to them. The immigration policies have really created problems and most of the farmers I deal with do not pay rock-bottom wages. The guys that put soybeans in the ground in April are really screwed-especially if they don't have the facilities to store their crop until Trump's trade war ends.

(1,897 posts)Just curious. I always wonder how Trump plays overseas. I'm pretty sure it can't be good.
