I watched it last night and it is very clear what he is trying to get across to Americans about how quickly our country can become this under the current regime. It was chilling and another reminder to me of how important it is to vote and to speak up.

(63,221 posts)Just found it on PBS and watched it. Very scary!
It just amazes me how so many people can be taken in by such insane, sick, hateful people. I will never understand it.

(28,270 posts)The parallels between Trump and Hitler/Mussolini and the GOP and the nazi party are way to close for comfort!

(15,536 posts)That's how I watched it. He has spoken out many times about Trump and how dangerous he and his followers are to our country.

(63,221 posts)Pretty chilling. Especially the part where the conservatives in Germany gave Hitler power because they thought they could control him. What does that remind you of?

(13,776 posts)I saw that this was on yesterday, but I couldn't bear to watch it until after the midterms. After tomorrow I definitely will, if it's rerun. He is absolutely excellent, as a human being and as a presenter. I love how he cares so much about educating people about the wide and diverse world we live in, and how most of us are so much more similar than we are different.
I'm still sick about Brazil and about the parts of the world where people don't have the choice to not watch fascism, but for now I took advantage of having that choice.

focusing on Germany, Italy and Spain where fascism took hold of the state. There were also fascist groups with similar ideology in Britain namely Sir Oswald Mosley's Blackshirts, and elements in pro-Nazi, Vichy France and even in the US with the American Nazi Bund. Those were dangerous, scary times 1920s-1945. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Union_of_Fascists

(15,536 posts)It's why we MUST stop the GOP/Trump before this gets to that point. We MUST show the Trump cultists that there are many, many more of us than them.
