Promote the Election Protection hotlines. (You can probably stand outside your polling place with a sign and give out this number, if someone isnt doing it already). The Election Protection Coalition has four numbers you may call to help you with questions on or before Election Day. Please share these numbers with your community and at the polls on Election Day. Add these numbers to your phone and then copy-and-paste them into an email to your friends and family:
866-OUR-VOTE (866-687-8683) English language hotline
888-VE-Y-VOTA (888-839-8682) Spanish language hotline
888-API-VOTE (888-274-8683) Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Bengali, Hindi, Urdu and Tagalog hotline
844-YALLA-US (844-925-5287) Arabic language hotline
American Sign Language video call number: 301-818-VOTE (301-818-8683)
Report any problems at the polls to the 866-OUR-VOTE hotline. The hotline provides one-on-one assistance to voters with questions or problems that may arise. The hotline also identifies the most common issues voters encounter (from language assistance to a misunderstanding of the rules by volunteer poll workers) and gives counties and the state a chance to come up with solutions.
FAQ's
- If they say you dont have proper ID, call the number (especially if you know what's required).
- If your polling place's machines malfunction or go down, call the number.
- If they run out of ballots, call the number.
- If the polling place is moved or closed early, call the number.
- If the poll workers say you're not registered and you know you should be, call the number (they will tell you to ask for a provisional ballot and receipt), as you are legally entitled to a vote.
- If you or anyone else has ANY problems voting, call the number!

(122 posts)Apparently, there are FAKE reports of polling place trouble being reported to discourage voting. Whether this one is fake who knows, but it's been deleted. Bottom line, Go VOTE. If you encounter problems call the number at the top of this thread.

(4,981 posts)I did because of my Granny's voting experience. I do think her vote was counted, but we could have done without the snark and the looking over her shoulder in the booth by the same poll worker that logged her in.
I want to believe that person couldn't do anything to squash her vote. Calling the OUR VOTE protection line gave me peace of mind that I had logged her experience with a group that cares. The guy on the line was super nice and I felt I was taken seriously.

(13,783 posts)My daughter laughs at me because I don't post personal stuff.
I'll put out the word to my friends that are on fb to do the same. I've managed to stay off the platform all these years. It's times like this that I almost the want to join.

(4,981 posts)Been reading DU for years... Just joined recently. Still figuring out how things work.
I'll just keep posting sorta inane replies like this to increase the activity on this post.
Seems it would be something like... Messaging an admin?
