Likely thunderstorms at rush hour this afternoon.
BUT the local right wing radio station is on location at a heavily white suburban school reporting long lines. They interviewed a guy who votes in every election and he said the turn out was like 2008. He said he, as a person of color, was shocked to see 12 people of color in a row in line.
I just heard a coworker say his voting place in Chesterfield was packed AT 6 am.
How's the weather where you are?

(15,286 posts)It was mild temps, but raining fairly hard when the polls opened at 7AM. It's stopped now, but is dark and overcast. Supposed to turn sunny with temps around 60 later today, but windy.

(115,693 posts)People standing in line in the rain to vote anyhow. We arent bothered much by crap weather here, it was above zero so were fine.
Nay
(12,051 posts)about 745 and was the 268th person to vote, which is at least 5 times the number of voters in past elections at that time of the day. Turnout is enormous! I also saw lots more young voters and black voters than usual in an off-season election.
I'd say that turnout will be a record for off-season elections, even though it was raining when I went in.

Good news (I hope) about the turn out. Guessing at the tickets this morning I'd guess I was about 20-30th person to vote. That was just before 7.

(33,345 posts)Had 3 inches (76 mm) rain last night. Clear skies, sunny and cool but warming. Waiting to go vote so as not to interfere with people voting before they go to work. Plan to get there between the commuters and those voting on their lunch breaks.

(5,586 posts)I drove past 2 voting precincts on my way to work, and there were no lines at either of them.
