The Economy Sucks - Face It

Working Americans haven't got a real raise since Reagan. Both parents need to work just to pay the bills unless you want to live in a trailer park, and then that isn't so easy.

Billionaires have most of the wealth, and make most of the money. Even if "numbers" look better, we are being tricked big time.

The economy sucks for most Americans.

Steve Schmidt said 43% of Americans don't even have $400 in savings.

The "narrative" that things are "booming" is completely fraudulent.

Some of us are doing ok. Great. The rest of us are funding new yachts and private jets for the folks that don't pay their fair share in taxes, and literally own politicians outright.

We should make a list of all the things "we can't afford" before anyone can say the economy is doing anything but sucking.

Discussions of "the economy" are often too focused on the day by day measurables like unemployment, inflation, stock market, etc. But basic discussions of how the non-wealthy are actually doing are few and far between. Some Democrats do discuss these things, but it is drowned out by the media.

Right now my husband is repairing his old Chevy pickup truck AGAIN. Basically all he uses it for is to tow his boat to the lake to go fishing, since it gets such crappy gas mileage. Using it for an everyday vehicle would be absurd.

A new truck? Forgeddaboutit! Those are in the neighborhood of 30 grand. We live on a retired teacher's pension.

I myself drive an '06 Toyota Corolla, which has been extremely reliable. I'll drive it till it conks out. Hopefully for another 5-8 years.

Is most people feel what you just pointed out. I have been at the utility place to find out information about how some utility services to businesses are handled and I overheard people that had their lights cut off. It was a jarring situation to witness that happening to someone in person. I live in a red county that use the trick of "fees" to avoid raising taxes. There is a fee for everything under the sun. Many people are living hand to mouth.

Money needs to be put into the hands of the working class. THAT'S when the economy will grow.

The remedy is TAXATION at rates the U.S. implemented from the 50s through 70s. In that era, a family with one wage earner could own a home and two cars, send the kids to college and take vacations. America built infrastructure including the interstate highway system. We went to the moon! Schools were good and teachers didn't have to pay for supplies and snacks out of their salary. Civic improvements were readily available to communities. All possible through proper TAXATION.
