Ballot receipt! Gotta love it!

I love getting this little notice every election after my mail-in ballot has been counted:

Hello [Onebro],

Your ballot for the November 2018 General Election has been accepted and will be counted. Get your special Oregon "I Voted" virtual sticker bit.ly/multcoivoted If you have any questions call 503-988-3720.

Visit www.mcelections.org for more election information.

Actually, I get an email notice telling me my ballot has been mailed to me. Then, after I complete my ballot and return it to the election office, I get a second email notice telling me it has been received (but not yet verified); THEN I get a third and final notice (above) telling me my ballot has been accepted.

I love it!

I read that link a day or so ago. I came away initially angry that they had to go through that to vote, yet inspired that they ultimately did what was necessary to make it happen. We absolutely realize how lucky we are in Oregon to not have to go through a gauntlet of republican bullshit not only to cast a vote but to also have it counted.

On a related note, I highly recommend "Give Us This Ballot" by Ari Berman for anyone who wants a thorough understanding of America's history of disenfranchising large segments of our society. Some libraries also have it available online.

As someone recently said, we must grab THEM by the ballot!
