Our candidate MUST be a celebrity. That's obvious to me.
He MUST be progressive. The midterms affirm that.
He MUST have an attactive family. Twins in the White House.
Who but George Clooney?
I can't see any of the current political folks that can break Trump's spell.
Republicans can't complain about Hollywood, given Reagan.
That is all.

Progressive yes.
Ordinary looking family is just fine.
I don't care what Republicans complain of.
That is all.

I'm not completely surprised a lot of people, even alleged Democrats, have fallen for the lowest common denominators offered; it's the mentally convenient choice of the irrational consumer-branded who believe that critical thought is the enemy of the mind.
They're more often than not, the same ones who make empty pronunciations lacking any evidence to support them.
(affirmations are great for writing on the bathroom mirrors, but they hold few realities)

(4,395 posts)We have lots of great choices for 2020 any one of whom should be able to beat Trump if we can un-tilt the board towards Republicans. That's what we should be focusing on.

(5,901 posts)And I say this because I know more than a few of my personal acquaintances (I'm in Texas, FWIW) voted for Clinton twice, Gore, Kerry, Obama twice, and Donald Trump.
I think at some point we need to realize that we are a nation where the idiots have gained advantage quickly. Idiots respond to a cult of personality. We're never gonna win without shiny names like Oprah and George. George is a political animal, comes from a strong Democratic family, and his wife is an international political star.
I understand your comments, and my personal pick for a political candidate for prez in a normal world would be Kamala Harris. But I don't believe any of them - Warren, Biden, Harris, Booker, Beto, Newsom, et al., will save us from the Nazi in the White House. This is war, Democrats!
We need to CAPTURE idiot votes from the right if they don't come with a working brain. We can't appeal to their intellect or their humanity since they seem to posses neither.
Back in the day, the Germans may theoretically have voted for Marlene Dietrich or Hedy Lamarr instead of Trump's Hero.
