restored.
NOT ONE SINGLE REPORTER!
If it can happen to CNN it can and will happen to anyone (except FUX news of course, because, well, you know).
This is a power move by the White House to deprive America of factual reporting. It must not stand.

(814 posts)Instead they will whine, throw out a statement, maybe defend and then go on with their pressers with Trumpco.

(14,962 posts)For examle, FoxNews, Breitbart, CBN, et al will be glad to fill up the briefing room if NYT, WaPo, CNN, MSNBC, AP, Reuters, NPR, PBS tried to take a stand like you suggest.

(36,420 posts)So I'm guessing the next SHS Press Conference is going to be ugly. Ugly! That is, if she even holds another one before her departure.

(1,549 posts)... there's no legal requirement to have press conferences, right? It's just a custom.
I believe Trump is trying to end that custom.
There will still be press handouts, and of course tweets.

(3,056 posts)Not one should attend...or conversely, show up for the next press "briefing", turn their backs on her and walk out. Enough is enough.

(402 posts)Trump planned that whole charade. That's why he called on Acosta. If the media didn't give air time to Trump and all his lies, it would drive him crazier than he already is. I say the press should boycott him and his worthless press conferences.
Totally Tunsie
(10,885 posts)and this would play directly into his hands. I can hear it now: "If the Press isn't going to show up, we'll just shut them down permanently." That would leave tRump and his sleazy administration to do their dirty work without having to broadcast or answer to any of it. It would be very counter-productive. No pressers means no reporters needed. They'd be signing their own pink slips to obscurity.
They need to show up, push back, and show tRump for the ass he is. I like that they've been showing some forcefulness lately. The Press has been too silent and accepting of poor treatment for far too long. If tRump then shuts them down for aggressiveness, then there will be reason for the public to show its disdain and push back themselves.
The Press needs to stay up close and personal in tRump's face to let him know that his way is NOT the way government is run!

Autumn
(45,064 posts)except the media that already lies and sanitizes everything Trump does and says to give him cover and make it look like he is perfect and everyone else is the problem? Think about that, Trump is real news. Do you think if only Fox, Infowars, and Breitbart cover him and he does to someone else what he does to the real media that they would report it?

Nothing works better than turning off those advertising spigots. Since they (and google/apple/etc.) are watching every eyeball and mouse click, it will soon become evident that this dump-house news is a total turn-off.

Number 1, the American public can't hear the question and Number 2, because they can't he can ramble anyway he wants, and Number 3, makes him look busy when he is only going from one tv to one on his plane on his way to get a rally fix of adoration from his crazies.
