a taxi to take me around to some of the battlefields of WW1 in France that Americans fought in. I will always remember how revered the French taxi driver held the fallen Americans.
Given Shitlers disgraceful behavior, that memory of 30 years ago, is especially important to me today.

The French reverence for all the fallen was noteable indeed. Made a definite impression on me. I was with a school trip of mostly rising junior and senior American high school students. I remember getting very irritated with some of my schoolmates' irreverence. And excessively so with one of the chaperones from the other school we were paired with. No sense of decorum from that woman. Embarrassed.
