But decades later, as living memories fade of the trenches and the poison gas, nationalism is on the rise. It's been fueled by Trump himself, who has proudly identified himself as a nationalist as he advances an "America First" agenda.

In his address, Macron -- who has emerged as Europe's most vocal sentry against a global tide of nationalism -- repeated his warnings.

"Patriotism is the exact opposite of nationalism," he said through a translator. "Nationalism is a betrayal of patriotism. By saying our interests first, who cares about the others, we erase what a nation holds dearest, what gives it life, what makes it great and what is essential: its moral values."

It was impossible to view his remarks as anything less than a rebuke of Trump, who has proudly espoused an "America First" foreign policy.

As Jimmy Buffet opined - "It's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning"

Same with Evangelicals. For many who, again quoting Jimmy would follow:

"Where's the church, who took the steeple
Religion is in the hands of some crazy-ass people
Television preachers with bad hair and dimples
The god's honest truth is it's not that simple
It's the Buddhist in you, it's the Pagan in me
It's the Muslim in him, she's Catholic ain't she?
It's the born again look its the WASP and the Jew
Tell me what's goin on, I ain't gotta clue"

from Jimmy Buffet - Fruitcakes

which leads me to think in many cases we should refer to certain groups as EVILGELICALS, because they claim one mantle but wear another that sows discord, bigotry and hate which is counter to their professed beliefs, if any.

Trump arrived separately from other foreign leaders to Sunday's armistice centenary ceremonies, which occurred under gray skies and cold drizzle. His counterparts, including French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, convened at the Élysée Palace before traveling together in motor coaches to the Arc de Triomphe. They walked in a large group to the event site.

Trump arrived in his own vehicle and walked in separately, due to "security protocols," according to the White House. A topless protester breached a police barricade and ran toward Trump's motorcade before being apprehended. Russian President Vladimir Putin also arrived separately and walked in solo.

that patriotism is the exact opposite of nationalism from someone from France?

Where are our beloved Democrats? Where is our beloved M$M?

We don't hear this narrative in America because our M$M is corporate controlled and corporations are ok with a white supremacist as our president.

how much coverage will Macron's speech get aired in America? For certain all of the Fox viewers will never know what Macron said and why he said it. The rest of our M$M will mostly ignore the speech also.

Hey, thank god we have DU to learn the truth.

Macrons leagues ahead of the Dotard, much thanks to NK Kim for giving Americans the new word Dotard. Notice how Mr. Trump never mentions that new word ever.

DOTARD

do·tard

/ˈdōdərd/

noun

noun: dotard; plural noun: dotards

an old person, especially one who has become weak or senile.
a person, especially an old person, exhibiting a decline in mental faculties; a weak-minded or foolish old person. ... Middle English word dating back to 1350–1400; see origin at dote, -ard. ... wimp, tottering, faltering, floundering, trembling, coward, misfit, crybaby, baby, chicken ...

Is drumpf smart enough to figure it out? I think he might actually be from the pictures of seen of him leaning out looking at Macron like I really can't believe you are saying that about me, how dare you call out my dear friend PUtin? But did he get it was about him as well, it's hard to say since he tells the truth so infrequently it's difficult to know if his ignorance is just a show to get his own way or if he's really that extremely stupid and ignorant?
