(40,209 posts)Actually, I think she has something to add to the conversation. Her book was surprisingly a good read. Trump is insane, but has this weird ability to draw people into his world. Omarosa wrote about how it was like being in a cult.
I think that is what Matthews finds intriguing. What it is about Trump that allows him to have a hold on people. I also think he finds Omarosa charming.

(42,770 posts)to Chris for having her. She will trash him ! yeah.
One thing about her book/her life I couldn't get past was her weak excuse for when she "saw the light" that he was an asshole.
Betting men might agree....likely best to bet against her veracity.

(15,324 posts)Is being forced to take seriously, people that you fucking know should never be taken seriously.
Being forced to treat asspickles like omarosa, Don Jr, Ivanka, Jared the Ken doll, Ben Carson, etc. with the same type of seriousness that we treated Harry Truman.
People that you know you wouldn't fucking think twice about except for when a 10 second spot on entertainment tonight told who they were fucking, or what piece of shit they were wearing... and we're now required to give one fuck about what comes out of their pie holes.
People that would only make the news if they put out a sex tape... and we have to treat them as if the weight of the world lies with what they fucking say.
It's the most infuriating aspect of this fucking soup sandwich.

(128,905 posts)and maybe turn him on several times a year if that, and if I have the TV on at all (and if I do, I switch to CNN). But since there was breaking news going on (although that seems to happen every day now) and Erin Burnett was talking about Michelle Obama's book, I just kept the channel on MSNBC.

(42,770 posts)just newbie fluff with zero depth.
What happened to Erin Burnett? Haven't seen her in ages.

(128,905 posts)since they first came on the air a bit over 20 years ago. I remember my mom, who was a political junkie, was an early watcher of MSNBC - literally when it first came on the air (she kept calling it "Microwave" ). She thought it was good because it had "younger people" (at the time) hosting the programs (the hosts would be there on stools with laptops prominently next to them). She had been a big watcher of CNN and CSPAN, but MSNBC became one of her favorites.
IMHO however, when they booted Phil Donahue (it's been 15 years...wow), they lost their true "erudite" host, leaving someone who is basically a self-promoting braggadocios hack who is all over the map with his views - the true "weather vane". He will annoyingly and obsessively highlight and support every prominent Irish-American politico, no matter how good or atrocious their views.
I think Burnett has matured in her role as host and manages to cut through some of the gish gallop that gets spewed by some of the guests. She is fortunate that CNN has been patient enough to have her build an audience given everything previously had been built around Blitzer. I had wondered why she had been off too but found out that she just had a baby in August. Kate Bolduan has been one of the main fill-ins for her and has inoffensively held her own.
90% of the time nowadays, I have no TV on unless there is some big breaking news going on. I am more a radio listener and a reader and at night, will often just listen to MSNBC on SiriusXM instead when I hit the sack (am an early to bed early to rise person).

(26,500 posts)some cynical bullshit book he wrote back in the day. It didn't even seem to be done on purpose or maliciously. But the guy just came across as a giant hack. Not to mention his ass licking of all things Neocon during the Bush years. I just never found him to be anything other than a DC cocktail circle self promoter.
