White House ALWAYS has a backup!!!!!

When planning movement for POTUS, whether to the Capital or a overseas cemetery, the White House ALWAYS has a secondary plan in case the primary falls through. It is part of normal Protocol. This is especially true for any overseas trip where security is harder. Also when moving POTUS on the ground in a motorcade they always have an escape route mapped out in case of emergency. THERE WAS NO EXCUSE!!!!

Either he was seriously sundowning or was off his meds, something was up, he would never yield a chance to grandstand.

aircraft issues w:re to weather seems plausible imo. The self-imposed margins for (routine and this was routine) flying a potus probably are tighter than they would be for you or me (assuming we had our own Marine helicopter).

Difficulty in last minute motorcade and mobilizing several hundred police to block traffic for such motorcade for ~50 miles. Plausible.

But not having a backup? Not plausible.

It's just as well though imo. Nobody really wanted him there any more than he wanted himself to be there.
