Jane Sanders cleared in Burlington College land deal

https://www.politico.com/story/2018/11/13/bernie-sanders-wife-inquiry-dropped-964513

Jane Sanders has been informed that the U.S. Attorney in Vermont has closed its investigation of the Burlington College land deal and has decided not to bring charges of any kind,” Jeff Weaver, a Sanders adviser, said in a statement.

“Jane is grateful that the investigation has come to an end,” Weaver said. “As she has said from the beginning she has done nothing wrong and Jane is pleased that the matter has now come to a conclusion."

This always smelled of political retribution. Glad it's over

I'm starting to think that Bernie Sanders is right when he says the system is rigged in favor of the powerful and millionaires and billionaires because when average people lie on loan reports they get prosecuted for bank fraud.

the donations that Sanders claimed they were going on bank loan documents?

When little guys lie on loan documents things don't go as easily for them.

you are going to get a bunch of different answers and a bunch of different recollections. That is why we look for documentation.

I don't trust the FBI after the way they screwed HRC. It is filled with partisan Republicans, not just in the New York office.

Multiple "donors" suggest what Jane Sanders claimed about their financial support was pure invention on her part.

Facts do matter, no matter how one feels about the FBI, HRC, or BS.

Lying about income on loan documents in order to secure a loan is bank fraud.

how the system too often works for the wealthy and powerful.

But, whatever the case, the bottom line is that Senator Sanders' ex- campaign manager, Jeff Weaver, has reported that the U.S. Attorney's office has decided not to bring charges and is closing the case.

And the feds DID investigate this. Fwiw, they often decline to prosecute every technically prosecutable crime for people of ordinary means either. I've heard that one of the first things defense attorneys do to try to ward off prosecution is advise the subjects to stop the behavior completely, to show investigators that prosecution is not needed to stop criminal behavior. Obviously, even that was not necessary in this case as Ms. Sanders had already been let go.

That might not be criminal, but wow!

If it were anyone but his wife, What Would Bernie Do?

Not to mention the $500,000 paid to her daughter.

It doesn't pass the smell test.

Nor does her son's six-figure salary at the do-nothing job at the Sanders Institute that she secured for him.

Hopefully, she'll now have time to release the tax returns.

but then we knew that also. There's a lot of lenders' and other money to give away at those levels, to be covered by shifting the debt onto others. And what are considered appropriate separation agreements and pay-offs for others at their level are inevitably affected by feelings of what would be appropriate for oneself.

Our Georgia Secretary of State has strong opinions on punishment for low-income criminals with low-dollar crimes. Yet he can engage in many cases of huge election tampering, including disenfranchising 800,000 voters and trying to illegally "impound" voting machines so they can't be investigated, with no expectation whatsoever of facing consequences. I'd love to see the outraged shock on his face if he were arrested, but not going to happen.

Have to be satisfied with Kemp's outrage at merely having his election theft challenged. I'm pretty sure it's real.

Now the bad image over big money is only if there is an actual indictment where Jane is concerned; whereas, the accusations/concern regarding financial appearances of Democrats is mere suggestion of wrongdoing. So much hypocrisy.

If Jane Q. Public wildly inflated income figures on a bank loan, she'd likely face charges for bank fraud, a Federal felony.

Change the last name to Sanders, and make the accused the spouse of a powerful Senator and there is a different brand of justice.

The system is rigged.

Anyone remember the degenova/Toensing family? They’ve been chasing the clintons around with a hatchet for 30 years.

Nobody but repigs and angry cranky holdouts wanted this investigation. Not even the supposed injured parties. Toensing ginned up an “injured party” out of some republican operative who claimed to be a member of the Diocese who made the loan.

To the ratfuckers (of all stripes):
