He's right it was a blue tsunami.
Fuck off mother's boy.

(33,342 posts)The entire GOP might have been flushed down the toilet if not for gerrymandering, voter purges, and vote suppression. That red wall took a lot to break and the wave that was left still changed the world.
Oh, and about voting machines...

How ironic that they have destroyed their own party's 'fake brand'. They were never conservatives, patriots or decent people.
Racists, crooks and liars best describe them.

(20,998 posts)...by various Republican* electoral shenanigans: voter suppression, voter disenfranchisement, and gerrymandering. We've had two Presidential elections where the will of the people somehow did not translate into wins for our candidates. We have state governments where Democratic voters cast a majority of the ballots, but our candidates receive a far less share of the actual votes.
Yes, Russia* has interfered with our elections to swing the results to their preferred candidate(s). Unfortunately, we have Republican* Governors and Secretaries of State that apparently do the same.
It is indeed time for a change. And I am FUCKING TIRED of the "each individual state, blah, blah, blah" refrains that attempt to paint the outright electoral theft and state electoral mismanagement as a good thing. It isn't. We as US citizens need to know that our votes are counted fairly and accurately, and NOT subject to whims of various Republican power structures that will do anything and everything to hold power. OVER IT!!!

What's this about?

(90,764 posts)Aunt Flo is an old euphemism for a woman having a period. (think red wave)
He is a right-wing religious zealot.
Considering the story of Eve and so-called original sin beliefs - Pence would see a woman having her period as her penitence for being born a woman/original sin.
He wouldn't call a Blue Wave a Blue Wave because he lives in a world where facts are not as meaningful as beliefs and because he's an asshole anyway.
My mind lives in its own universe sometimes. It's a strange place.

(90,764 posts)and he said Pence was hurt and wounded that Mother wasn't virgin because she had been married before. That it was basically a black mark against her character. That Pence talked in terms of having to overcome his feelings to marry her.
Lots of patriarchal, religious zealotry packed in that thinking.

(90,764 posts)That Trump was tempted by women and women are to blame for not keeping themselves pure and blah, blah, blah.
Pence is of the religious patriarchy school of thought that says men are the heads of household, women are submissive, and that women carry original sin - so they can't be trusted to do the right thing - and it's OK if you commit a sin because you're forgiven - and if you're a man - it's somehow the fault of a woman.
From which is born: she was asking for it, what was she wearing, why was she there, and it's up to women to put a check on a man's behavior, etc..

(268,980 posts)2. He Used Campaign Funds To Pay His Mortgage and Other Expenses
So what was the scandal? What was Pence doing with those campaign funds that caused him to be crushed by Sharp in the election 26 years ago?
The campaign finance documents unearthed at the time showed that Pence spent $12,867 of donor cash which would be more than $23,000 in 2016 money, according to the Consumer Price Index Inflation Calculator to help pay down the mortgage on his house, as well as on such expenses as fees to take part in golf tournaments and even groceries for his home.
His mortgage payment was $992 per month, and he made seven payments using diverted campaign donations. Pences wife, Karen, also had a monthly car payment of $222, and Pence used his campaign funds to make seven of those payments as well. Other campaign donations went to help pay down Pences credit cards.
