@realDonaldTrump
I can get Nancy Pelosi as many votes as she wants in order for her to be Speaker of the House. She deserves this victory, she has earned it - but there are those in her party who are trying to take it away. She will win! @TomReedCongress

(6,913 posts)He also wants to use his statement as a talking point later. When the Dems investigate him, he will whine about how he offered to help Pelosi but she turned her back on him, ungrateful bitch.

For her would take time to reach critical mass hatred. And he needs her while the mueller report comes out.

(2,764 posts)outrageous things he can say about her to rile his base. He'll play his base like a fiddle.
But Nancy is smart and tough. She has his number. He's cunning but weak and blustering. She'll be fine. It should keep some of the up-and-coming leaders off his radar and maybe off the radar of the RW media for awhile. She's thinking of retiring before all that long no bashing of her will hurt her career.

(15,751 posts)Fox 5 at 5 loves them all. The panel all in varying ways agreed Pelosi will be the new Speaker, they were in total, enthusiastic agreement that the Democrats needed to be beat up. They all loved all the anti Pelosi factions, and called it all 'REPUBLICAN PORN'!!!

(2,349 posts)When Bush was President. Trump remembers this or more likely was told this therefore he is acting as her proponent. He obviously understands nothing about Nancy Pelosi and how very many ways she will expose this corrupt administration and him.

(5,969 posts)The only scenario where Trump could somehow get votes for Pelosi would be if she is already the Dem nominee against the Repub. Does anyone seriously believe that only one Republican will vote for Pelosi? I'm asking this because there seem to be some on the Dem side who ask concerned questions why Trump would help Pelosi. He won't and he can't.

(3,525 posts)The speaker of the house is elected by a vote of the entire house.

(28,815 posts)I did not know that.
thanks

(3,525 posts)It is a vote of the entire house. So if Democrats are united then they will get their way. If they arent then republicans may have an impact.

(28,815 posts)this is not the time. she's clearly the best choice. I have read, though I don't know if it's true, that Pelosi will mentor younger reps and step aside in 2 years. it would shake my faith to my toes if the Democrats were to screw this up. we have a golden opportunity to save democracy here. it's just too important.
