(10,136 posts)Overall, the Democratic Party trounced the GOP in the recent elections, and it looks like they will do well in the next few years, so he's trying to jump on the bandwagon. He'll take credit if Pelosi becomes Speaker as well. Because Trump never loses and he always wins, even if it requires ignoring those pesky facts.

(7,627 posts)I wrote a post to that effect a while ago. Donald Trump has no moral compass, no deeply held political opinions. He is not really a republican. He is only concerned about himself and to a lesser extend, his family. Everything he does or says is for the purpose of advancing his own agenda. He has been casting himself as a "dealmaker".
We have retaken the house. I can easily see Trump trying to cut deals with the new congress in order to stay relevant and claim victory.
