Ocasio-Cortez signal of support is good news for Pelosi

Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) could soon be on Team Pelosi.

The liberal freshman firebrand made a splash during her first day of orientation by joining a protest outside of House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi's office to demand action on climate change.

But over the weekend, Ocasio-Cortez told her nearly 800,000 Instagram followers she will likely back the California Democrat, calling her the most progressive of the possible candidates for Speaker.

A formal endorsement from Ocasio-Cortez would be a boon for Pelosi as she seeks to return to the Speaker's office and create the perception that the longtime Democratic leader is building momentum for her bid.

While Pelosi’s camp says it was never worried about winning over the fellow liberal, Ocasio-Cortez’s support could inject excitement into Pelosi's candidacy and counter critics who say the 31-year veteran lawmaker has been around too long and represents stale ideas.

on liberal disaffection with Pelosi to swoop in with a more conservative option. That is a special level of disdain and condescension.

On a side note, its nice to be in solidarity with everybody here, irritated at the same Democratic Reps for once.

Pelosi was just sitting by the phone clutching her pearls like teenager hoping to get asked to the prom hoping AOC would call because ALL WOULD BE LOST for Nancy without the love of a single freshman congressperson lol

Nancy been around washington way too long to be worried about one vote. She knows how to get things done and will be speaker with or without AOC

Media has really grabbed hold of this young woman to create her as the voice of the Democratic Party, kinda like they did with Sanders who is not even a part of the Democratic Party, when she has yet to earn such a position. I do not know if I support AOC, or don't support AOC. There is nothing of substance yet to base any opinion at all. This makes no sense to me.

in Nancy's running for Speaker of the House without AOC's endorsement... that's when you can tell they're manufacturing and manipulating their readers.

It's good to remind leaders that we are all watching and let them know what we care about. A healthy democracy requires debate and challenges. That's not to say we should angrily tear people down as some people like to do.. But this will make Pelosi's position even stronger than if it had been rubber stamped. When people get too comfortable they sometimes lose sight of what matters.

It was not supporters of HRC demanding the coronation. It is not Pelosi. Pelosi has the creds and the votes and the support. It is those attacking her that are wanting her dispersed without the support or the votes or the creds.

I am not much into this coronation accusation. Rings false with HRC as it does with Pelosi.

Pelosi will have a nice office, the Speaker's digs. AOC will have the office that's assigned to her. Maybe she won't be in the room with the boiler.

Just as she would be for any Democratic supporter. Nothing special about AOC's.

Nancy Pelosi is an accomplished, experienced, effective Speaker. We'll have to see what AOC does. (I have my doubts about someone who seems more interested in seeing her name in the news than in being serious about policy, but we'll see.)

She and the kid met. No one is saying what they talked about. They both come out smiling. The kid endorses her. Win-Win and everyone’s stock rises.

I am well past 70. She is young enough to be my granddaughter. An accomplished kid, but to me, still a kid..
