(621 posts)My sister and best friend both have chickens. I have an issue with eggs. Ever since I was a little girl and learned what they really are, they gross me out. Theirs are not fertilized, so I do use them for baking, but I still cant enjoy an omelette unless its made with fake eggs. (I have issues with most meat, too. Im an animal lover.)
Anyway, chickens arent especially friendly, even when raised from an egg, but they do eat bugs and since we all have very large gardens and try to stay away from pesticides, they are useful, and then there are the eggs. They keep pushing me to get chickens! So Im wondering... Are turkeys generally friendly? Do they give eggs? I certainly wouldnt eat them, so why do you have 10? Would it be a good thing to have instead of the chickens?
Anyway, happy Thanksgiving!

(15,536 posts)And a Happy Thanksgiving to you, Mr. Scorpio! Enjoy the cold temps this morning. Remember everything we have to be thankful for, even the smallest of blessings. My furnace works, I have enough to eat and I'm healthy. That's enough to be grateful for.

(7,142 posts)We have a lot to be thankful for. Millions of people rejected hatred, misogyny, bigotry, and all the rest.
I am thankful and hopeful for our country. Going to relax, eat, drink a little, and watch some football.
I am also thankful I have a new furnace here in central Pa. where it was 6 degrees this morning.
Releasing a lot of positive thoughts into the universe today, bless you all.
