(297,215 posts)awesome hard working, Democratic Senators!

(53,061 posts)Acts ever carried out by a Democratic leader.
By giving cover to Trump's lies (which even Trump's SECSTATE and SECDEF admitted were untrue he has created a door for ear on Iran.
He has also been relatively quiet about the mountain of crimes conducted by the House of Saud.
He has on the other hand gotten large donations from the hard core "Israel is always right" Libby.
There will never be, unlike Reid, any trees chopped down to print a chapter in a future"Profiles of Courage" book.
oberliner
(58,724 posts)With respect to Israel, his views are not in sync with the most progressive wing of the Democratic Party.
And with respect to the Iran Deal, he went against President Obama.
I am definitely more a fan of the junior senator from NY than the senior one.
Who are your favorite senators?

(111,094 posts)...if we ask "What state has the two worst Senators"? Then Kentucky would probably be in the running. How can anyone be worse than Mitch McConnell ??
csziggy
(34,136 posts)With Marco Rubio and Rick Scott as our senators for the upcoming two years I have a feeling they are going to make Mitch McConnell work hard to be worse.

(4,139 posts)One of these years I mean to catch up with him on his annual walk across Connecticut (granted, there aren't many states where he could do that in 3-4 days like he does here).
TygrBright
(20,759 posts)Both Tom Udall and Marty Heinrich have done well for us and, I think, for the Democratic Party in general. Solid but unspectacular.
As far as "best" though, I'd probably have to come down with Illinois- some fine established leadership with Dick Durbin, and fabulous new leadership with Tammy Duckworth.
opinionatedly,

(58,724 posts)Gillibrand from NY is at 9 percent.
The two senators from MA are both at 10 and 13 percent.
Kingofalldems

(58,724 posts)Compare that with Gillibrand who only voted with Trump 9 percent of the time.

(38,456 posts)Oh hell, not falling for the old change the subject in any pro Dem thread routine.
oberliner
(58,724 posts)I am arguing in favor of New York and comparing the senators you cited from Maryland to one of the ones from that state.
That is literally the subject of the thread, is it not?
Kingofalldems
(38,456 posts)That's your opinion. I like my Senators.

(42,862 posts)... thank you very much. It just goes to show that New England style politicians and politics don't play well everywhere. Our senators win for a reason... Because they represent OUR state, not some other state.
oberliner
(58,724 posts)Senators will obviously have different priorities based on the needs of their state.

(34,661 posts)legislatures work if the Governor and one House are of both parties. Remember,States have to have a balanced Budget by Constitution. With the Dems running the Table,Watch for major Policy changes as well as new funding formal mechanisms coming into play. The Strip will have to pay more for their use of the Public Domain. Count on it.

Though I will say it sometimes feels frustrating to live in an area that doesnt need help becoming more blue. Still, I wouldnt trade it. Oregons a great State politically, naturally and lifestyle-wise.

(52,161 posts)but Senator Brown by one measure is the most liberal. He comes from a state that Trump won by 8 but is among the most liberal in the entire Senate. He deserves kudos. That said, I think Hawaii might have the best pair.
