I get a lot of emails from my readers. I am posting this email with my response because it's an important issue and while I empathize with this White Progressive, we need the converse more so just based on proportionality. Tell me what you think.

(11,738 posts)As you said, there are factors that can cloud the discussion, most likely economics, but you can't really separate discussion of economic justice from racial equality. Bob Johnson may have more in common with Trump than with other Black Americans, but unless someone knows exactly who Bob Johnson is, the first thing we see about him is that he is Black, and for some, including Trump, that is all they need to know about him to dismiss his humanity.
The worst thing about the discussion is that for people who do not have to consider race, it is a situation that is both strange and uncomfortable. As a man, I have to acknowledge that I have privilege, the society is set up mostly in my favor, and I have to choose to go against that privilege. Sometimes I do not want to. I can see how White people would be reticent to do so, especially if they do not feel they have received any special advantages from their skin color.

(13,340 posts)I detest that you post teasers here and then link to your site where you make money from ads.
IMO, it's a bit distasteful. I'd be more inclined to click and make you a few pennies if I didn't feel so worked.

(4,058 posts)complete thought in the lede. But the idea is if it interests one. My one concern with your statement is our Progressives at this site have no problem tagging to opinion pieces to other sites. Am I doing anything differently in your opinion? I make sure to give my left-wing perspective making it substantive, IMHO.
I am not sure why my link is distasteful and the ones to the huge corporations, NYTimes, Post, and other rags aren't.
Thanks for your kudos on liking my posts. That does mean a lot.

(13,340 posts)It seems a little too much like personal promotion for financial gain. If I link to an opinion piece, I'm not making any money off of it.
I would feel the same way if someone representing the NYT or WaPo was coming here to promote their websites.
But it's a personal opinion. The sites owners seem to be okay with it, so I guess go for it.
And I guess to be fair, your site doesn't have a paywall, just advertisers.
