Friends and I were talking the other day and the subject of Time in the shower came up. So the question was, basically what is the average time you spend in the shower at home?.
Now granted, your time might be limited because of obligations, but assuming you have no place you have to be right away and you need to take a shower..
Baths will not be included in this poll, cause a bath can be fairly lengthy or short. This has to do with the time you spend, just cleaning up and relaxing in the shower... please give an estimate and it doesn't have to be entirely exact.

(17,984 posts)That takes up some time. I think there may be too many variables.

(23,194 posts)I, too, shave in the shower. Some days take longer than others depending on the territory to be shaved.

(187,726 posts)I learned in the Army to be really efficient in the shower. Plus I'm third in line in the mornings after my daughter (who can take up to 45 minutes) and my wife. Get in. Get out.

(8,514 posts)Get wet. Turn water off. Soap up. Rinse off. Done.

(4,737 posts)I've tried it. Kind of chilly standing there all wet.

(8,514 posts)I need a heater in my shower. One would think if one was an electrician one would think of putting one of those heater things in his mother's shower. (I need to drop some strong hints to one of my sons. )

(8,514 posts)If it's shampoo day it takes longer. I wash my hair every two or three days. Also, if it's on a day when I take more than one shower, it can be a short as five minutes.

(24,633 posts)We live with drought and water restrictions. Everything you need to do can be done in five minutes.

(30,313 posts)Most of my showers are courtesy of my insurance company via Silver Sneakers at gyms and pools. The better the shower facility, the longer I take. I'm faster a the Y than at LA Fitness. One gym I go to three times a week has really luxurious showers and I take advantage. I will time myself next time I'm there.
Rorey
(8,514 posts)That's one thing I'm definitely taking advantage of when I can.

(30,313 posts)Usually I only get coffee there. When I started using Silver Sneakers at age 67 I hadn't swum a lap since Kennedy was President. Now, at 71, my swims are sometimes a mile. I can use all the YMCAs in the area, plus an Olympic size indoor pool a few miles away, LA Fitness (with pools) and an excellent gym run by a local health care provider with free periodic assessments and personalized workouts. All free.

(8,514 posts)I think that's what our insurance guy said. My (soon-to-be-ex) husband hasn't taken advantage of it because, according to him, he "doesn't have time". I'll make time.

(30,313 posts)a friend from Wisconsin says places there don't accept it.
I hope it turns out as good as the insurance guy said it is.

(30,313 posts)There is a small, city-operated gym in a rec center near my house. They want to be in Silver Sneakers, but Silver Sneakers says they have too many places in the area already that take their card. I think the issue is $$$$$. There are two for-profit places within a mile or two that take Silver Sneakers.

(33,258 posts)When I take five minutes, it's because I'm washing my hair, which I do every other day, unless I swim. Some days, I just wash my face and rinse off. My skin is much happier for it. The only time I might linger longer is in the wintertime, when I come home from a workout, and I'm freezing cold. Or, if I have a cold and I'm congested. I might stay in a little longer to try to loosen up my sinuses so that I can breathe.

Eight minutes in front of the sink.
Four minutes to get dressed.

(4,931 posts)that first touch on my skin is cold. So I block the stream with the curtain, hop in behind it, then quickly expose myself to the stream. And I'm out in five minutes.
I like baths, but feel like I'm wasting a lot of water.

(25,586 posts)I can be in and out in well under a minute, but Ive got the advantage of no hair.

(2,253 posts)I handle business first; shampoo and soap, shave what little I have and then enjoy the HOT STEAM for the remainder of the time. I love breathing it in with the window cracked, mixing the cold morning air with the hot steam. I come out totally relaxed!
