When the Senate sent the bill to the House, with a unanimous vote, all Paul Ryan needed to do was to put the same bill on the floor for a vote. It would have gotten almost all the Democratic votes and almost all the Republican votes, except for the Freedom Caucus, the right-wing idiots in the House. Ryan chose to listen to the Freedom Caucus and put Trump's wishes for a $5 billion dollar wall on the floor instead.
If he had only followed Mitch and passed the bill in the House, both with veto-proof numbers, Trump would have had to think twice about vetoing it.
But Paul Ryan, as he was going out the door, showed his true colors.

(8,923 posts)Even with veto proof numbers to pass the bill doesn't guarantee the Republicans would vote to overide his veto. I think this is more about Coulter and Limp Balls.
