Living paycheck to paycheck is disturbingly common: 'I see no way out.'

“Inescapable.”

“It's a constant stressor.”

“I see no way out.”

What do professors, real estate agents, farmers, business executives, computer programmers and store clerks have in common?
They’re not immune to the harsh reality of living paycheck to paycheck, according to dozens of people who responded to a Washington Post inquiry on Twitter.

They’re millennials, Gen Xers and baby boomers. They work in big cities and rural towns. They’ve tried to save — but rent, child care, student loans and medical bills get in the way.

National data on the paycheck-to-paycheck experience is flimsy, but a recent report from the Federal Reserve spotlights the prevalence of extra-tight budgets: Four in 10 adults say they couldn’t produce $400 in an emergency without sliding into debt or selling something, according to the 2017 figures.

The partial government shutdown, which began last Friday and is temporarily halting pay for some 800,000 federal workers, has touched off a heated discussion on Twitter about what it means to get by in the United States. (President Trump warned this closure could “last a very long time” if Congress doesn’t meet his demands for billions of dollars for a border wall.)

The cost of food, for example, is getting ridiculous.

ten dollars are now approaching twenty and even over. It's shocking. Who with a family can afford that?

Greedy contractors are making a fortune off everyday workers ... low pay, no benefits ... folks living from paycheck to paycheck. Dems need to focus on this problem. We need good paying jobs especially if folks are working for our gov. The U.S. Postal Service is in the cross hairs. Food service companies are the worst ... yet they hire lots of immigrants and for years have hired many undocumented people. How much money are they skimming from workers?

The only one who makes out well is the contract business owner and the company or government agency who hires these.

You don't have as much job security say as a regular employee. You hired because that outfit wants to avoid paying full benefits. Most of the work is temporary.

for our Kids that work TSA . They received their direct deposit yesterday, and their next payroll is two weeks out. And that will be for only five days hours instead of ten days. Neither was made whole last time around and they suspect the same this time. The last one cost them dearly with the Credit Score crap.

The only winner in this whole damn mess is the Payday Loan Sharks.

And just as bad they will be considered delinquent in their bill payments and be charged late fees to which special service fees will be added just because.

This is happening to all the affected federal employees. It’s corporate economic warfare. The credit card companies will gouge and gouge, just as they always have because in the years to come they will charge these people more interest because they were late on their bills due to Trump’s walll tantrum.

This story is like a broken record that repeats itself all over again with every Republican President.

shut down. Scary crap, and I know there are tons of folks in this mess. Worse part is,their Rent is due on Tuesday and has to be paid by Friday with out penalty of 10% late fee. Already left a message with the Rental Agency just in case things go south.
