The Democrats who captured the House by flipping 43 districts from red to blue received on average just over half of their large-dollar campaign funds from outside their states, another example of the nationalization of the November election that was a rebuke to President Donald Trump, USA Today reports.
The defeated Republicans in those districts, by contrast, collected only about one-third of their itemized funds from outside their states.

(5,272 posts)have an impact. Obviously these were local candidates, but nobody should pretend that big money and influence it wields is overshadowed simply by local popularity. Money is a kingmaker. It decides what local faces and voices are privileged in the local and national media.

(53,410 posts)from people from other states. For example, I live in New Mexico but I donated money to Candidates from California, Texas, Georgia and Florida. So did a ton of other Democrats.
Politics is local now.
