If anyone wants to go to Russia and help Putin's economy, don't ask America to help your dumb ass if he locks you up and holds you hostage.
Where is the official warning from the State Department?
Oh, sorry. The State Department is busy helping Trump and his friends steal everything in sight.
This Warning Is Issued From Me!!!!

Travel Advisory
December 10, 2018
Exercise Increased Caution due to terrorism, harassment, and the arbitrary enforcement of local laws. Some areas have increased risk. Read the entire Travel Advisory.
There's a "do not travel" advisory for some places, but the entire damned country's under the "exercise increased caution" advisory.
This is neither the first one for 2018 nor the worst one. I'm still tied in (in a truly limited fashion) with the Slavistic community in the US, and they openly discuss such things because they send their students, grad and undergrad, there. At least the "racial violence" warnings have mostly stopped. Used to be some AfAm and Latino students would make rumblings about discrimination when they were advised not to study in Russia, but it all boiled down to being an obvious outsider in a culture that was experiencing a violent xenophobia spike. (No, nothing like the US's. The US's barely registers against background noise. This was a real problem.)
