The Zoo’s live animal cams, including the beloved Panda Cam, are also deemed nonessential and will not stream video until the government reopens.

3. I'm glad that after 3 weeks, the media finally realized that

the "federal government" consists of more than the National Park Service. (no offense to NPS folks)

6. I read yesterday that some people are taking advantage of the unstaffed national parks.

In Joshua Tree National Park, they’re camping in protected areas and even cutting down protected trees.
This makes me so sad and angry.

9. Yes that is beyond disheartening

It shows the effect of a mere presence of authority and control has.

10. Yup

and I expect the ATVers will be having a ball now.

But then someone apparently took advantage of the unstaffed State Department too.

It's everywhere, not just the parks.

11. My concern

Because of all the hurt of the Fed workers, I'm concerned that the Dems will have to give trump his damn wall. I sure hope I'm wrong.

13. Thanks

I would like to see numbers of federal contractors

and the effect of the shutdown (dollar amt) on the parts of the economy indirectly effected

such as the service sector that indirectly contract with the govt. Hotels, convention centers, restaurants etc.

total drain on the economy

how long before the airlines stop flying?
