They are weighed daily and diet adjusted if they lose or gain to much weight. Their diets are formulated, individually, for optimal performance for their positition. Not all calories are the same. Half of it vegan, all of it respectfully cooked by my extreme foodie carnivorous brother and his taco truck compadres -- bloody red meat and fish (some of it wild caught or shot) on one grill, turn around, vegan, maybe even Kosher, respecting dead Wild West unspoken Kosher grandma and her veggie food on the other grill. (My crazy grandma would rather talk to the squirrels or neighbors than eat them.)

My predominant family heritage is Wild West beef ranchers, hunters, and fishermen. Curiously we don't tend to marry the same.

I've killed and cut apart meat I've eaten. I've eaten animals I've known.

My vegan wife still feels bad about fishing trips she's suffered with my dad. On her last fishing trip with my dad, back in the twentieth century, she hauled in a fish half as big as she is and let it go.

These days I'm mostly vegetarian.

Fat neighbors I don't like, feral pigs and otherwise, they should be thankful for that.

I'm pretty sure it's in my genes that quite a few of my Nordic ancestors survived difficult times because they were willing to eat their dead frozen neighbors, maybe even to the point they helped the worst of their neighbors along to that dead frozen state.

I might celebrate Trump or Pence in a dead frozen state, but I'd never eat them.
