(18,770 posts)Cormier says he hasn't seen the evidence, but Leopold says he has?
<snip>
Shortly after, Leopold gave an interview of his own to MSNBCs Hallie Jackson, and she asked him how confident are you that [Muellers documents] actually exist?
I dont think weve said we havent seen them, said Leopold, but I will say that Im confident that they exist.
Jackson kept pressing him to clarify the status of whether theyve seen the evidence or not citing Cormiers earlier comments. Leopold continued to express confidence in his reporting, citing his extensive coverage of the Moscow Project.
Ill say weve seen documents and been briefed, he said.
Mediaite contacted Leopold for his response to Cormiers statement that he hasnt personally seen the documents cited in their report. He responded with Yes. Anthony said HE had not personally seen the documents.
On edit: BuzzFeed stands behind Leopold 100%: https://www.democraticunderground.com/100211691154

(37,648 posts)before jumping on the bandwagon. I read that Leopold has a checkered journalistic past, although some of his stories have turned out to be true.
It would be a good way to make the Dems look foolish, to fall for stories with no evidentiary backup, because they want it to be true.
If it's true, it will be verified. I think I read that someone in Congress is going to check it out.

(7,384 posts)We may not get full confirmation until Mueller's report, if indeed the public gets to see it.
My guess is BuzzFeed has some slippery investigative methods.

Best to get confirmation before jumping on a story as true. One of the writers has had issues with his journalistic integrity in the past, although some of his stories turned out to be true, as well.

(7,384 posts)We are witnessing an amazing roll-out of discovery, from the indicted Russians, to multiple Trump-team indictments.

(1,345 posts)it's by definition an intentional leak, but what is the intention, whether it's Russians or American officials? It's going to come out at some point, what is the advantage, to Russians or American officials, or to the public, of it being known sooner?

(28,120 posts)IQ45's power via reducing his poll #s and it's working.
2ndly, rattling him will cause him to take more errors.
3rdly, the more his Administrative minions think is being exposed the more likely they are to cooperate with Mueller and the SDoNY's prosecutors.
4thly, the more dominoes seem to be falling, the more quickly McConnell is likely to let the vote comes the floor to reopen government. Our economy is hurting and I'm not referring to the DOW.
In addition, I'm happy with talk of impeachment moving forward sooner and am aghast at the destruction Trump and his administration have caused to our country. Bill Maher said it best: "MSNBC, Hardball - Bill Maher: If We Don't Impeach President Donald Trump, Where Is The Bar?"
The sooner the better.
There are probably many more but I'm in a hurry.

While sometimes the bigger papers twiddle their thumbs, sit on a story out of fear....mostly of gaining access to Republicans and high society social events in Washington. That or they haven't concocted an "equivalent" bad deed from the other side they can run alongside.

(16,387 posts)Do you mean actually getting shit correct, as opposed to being first? You may have missed it or werent paying attention but NYT and WaPo have given us some pretty good scoops since Donnie came to power. Meanwhile, buzzfeed just took an ax to their own credibility and gave MAGAts a reason to crow. Your post did not age well at all.

(31,893 posts)Now that special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald has said that he will not seek charges against Karl Rove, will Truthout.org rethink their affiliation with reporter Jason Leopold?
We wonder if the folks over at Truthout.org are rethinking their affiliation with reporter and serial fabulist Jason Leopold. Leopold, you may recall, is the freelance reporter who was caught making stuff up in a 2002 Salon.com article, self-admittedly getting it completely wrong in pieces for Dow Jones, and had his own memoir cancelled because of concerns over the accuracy of quotations.
Leopolds latest addition to his application for membership in the Stephen Glass school of journalism came on May 12 of this year, when he got what appeared to be the scoop of a lifetime. Now writing for Truthout.org, Leopold reported that Karl Rove told President Bush and Chief of Staff Joshua Bolten, as well as a few other high level administration officials, that he was about to be indicted in the Valerie Plame CIA leak case, according to people knowledgeable about these discussions.
Leopold claimed that multiple sources confirmed Roves indictment is imminent. These individuals requested anonymity saying they were not authorized to speak publicly about Roves situation.
Well, today we learned that special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald said he would not seek charges against Rove.
Oops.
